89 k5 Trazer build "The Dirty Girl" *Tubed front/taper, full hydro steer*

Looks good! I have the B52s and the frame eye shackle hangers installed too. Painted them hammer tone black... what color did you paint them, by the way? Looks like olive drab?
Thanks guys, yea I painted the brackets olive drab. Same color I used on the front fenders and hood. I really like the color, because its not your typical OD. I gotta find another place to get it though. I was buying it from the local military surplus store but he raised his prices. $8 a can now:eek1: Later this week I got to take some measurements so I can send my dad to the spring shop and get me some u-bolts for the d60.

you know whats funny, i did the exact same thing. well kinda the exact. i put a pickup body on k5 frame. heres what i started with,

ripped out the tbi, put on a carb, 14ff and 10blt, a bunch of other misc stuff and got this now,

Hey no problem. There may be a slight change of plans with the build. Originally I was going to use a zero-rate to move the front axle forward another 1.5". But I have been reading about some problems with doing this, that would pretty much require me to go full-hydro steer.

Seeing as how I don't know jack about hydro and I've heard that it can be kinda hard to tune just right, Im either going to go with traditional crossover, with a rock tuff tierod from bulletproof steering.com or go with high steer.

I'm also debating about going with a LOMAX 205 twinsticked, rather than clocked and SYE'd np 241. What to guys recommend?

gotta love that olive green. looks killer. a full hydro set up will work right if you set it up right & not do a half ass job. :D also i'd go high steer. and i'd go with the twin sticked Lo Max :D i think i'll be setting up my 203/NWF doubler/lo max next week or the following week, just tired of waiting for the right 700R4  .........

Hey thanks, you ever need help with your project let me know!

I wasn't feeling real good today so all I did was bolt up the b-52's

And I took a look at what I will need to do to mount the shackle hangers. So hopefully I can start drilling holes tomarrow. I'm hoping to get the springs in by the end of the weekend.

Thanks, yea I guess you could call it a gloss olive drab. I got lucky it was the only OD paint I could find in my area and I love the color. It kinda reminds me of the color the army used on their vehicles in the 60s. Next time Im in the garage I will get a picture of the paint can so you guys can see what I'm using.

Ha! I know what you mean, it takes a lot of explaining to people to tell them what I've done with my truck. I need to just carry a picture with me so I can just say,"here's what it looks like..."

hmm your link asks me to log in. Oh and I may not be using that front/rear fender idea. Now that the rear axle is moved back, it may not look right. Once I have the truck rolling again, I will have to hold a fender up there and see what it looks like

the user name is: Steve524

right at the top there is a gray box that says Sub Albums under that says buggy. click that to see that build. and my other pics are jsut some of me and my buddys, other trucks, ect (im the short skinny kid)

Are you going to be re-using those stock body mounts or switching over to poly mounts?
I didn't have a chance to get my stock ones back on due to property violation dispute over me doing work in an apartment complex. I pay $50 a month for a detached garage and they kicked me out for working in it. I still have the garage but can't work in it anymore. So with having no place to work on the Blazer, I ended up taking it in to the shop. At this point, I'm not sure what they're doing, if they're using stock or poly mounts... Just thought I'd ask you if you got to that point in re-assembly.
Your build is looking really good so far, bro...

When I swapped the pickup body on, I bought a set of poly body bushings. I think they are from energy suspension. So I still got two left that will find their way under the rad support. The old ones were long gone

Alright, I got my camera fixed so here's a progress pic. Holes are drilled on both sides for the shackle hangers
2186902_233_full.jpg

I have to get nuts & bolts tomorrow, then paint some more of the frame

Ok I got the frame painted and the shackle hangers and shackles are bolted up. I put the springs in just to get a look at things. I am going to take the springs to work tomarrow and cut down the overload leafs.

I need to get a few more bolts, bolt up the springs, then I can drag in the dana 60 and bolt that in and throw on some roll-around tires. Then I can finally take the truck off the jackstands...

well not for long because the rear axle swap will happen next.

Ok, the 52" spring swap is done and I put the dana 60 in...kinda. Turns out that two of the U-bolts I got for the driver's side are too short so I will get the right ones tomarrow. Of course, here's pics:
