My 40s never bothered me. The exhaust noise was drown out by the road and engine noise coming through the hole in the firewall and the hole in the floor.

Put some straight cut timing gears in and you won't notice the exh so much!
Playing around with detents and cable positioning. Here are all the different combinations (ignoring front wheel drive scenarios).
2Hi typical pavement driving scenario.
2Lo for going slow
4Hi for going fast in the dirt or snow
4Lo for when it starts to get serious
Double Lo to get all the gear reduction

I want a floor full of levers in my Yukon...
It will be interesting to see how it sits in the truck. It would be kinda cool to angle off the dash but I don't know if I can make that work.

Gonna need longer cables to mount the shifters overhead. It would be like running the wing flaps on an old plane.
I like the shifters. I need those in my K5. Come to think of it, I need more than 1 t-case too.
