Finished it up and tested it out on the trail this weekend.

With the tailgate on there, the bumper is really flush to the body. I will see if this causes me to beat up the tailgate. I'm planning to add a backup camera as well.

It occurred to me I had this great idea of installing the tailgate so I could haul stuff more easily but that I didn't have a good way to secure the cargo. So I picked up a slide-n-lock track system made by Hi-Lift.

Worked great to secure my cargo this weekend:

Ever since I got the pickup I've wanted a portable grill to cook up lunch on the trail. I got this Weber grill for my birthday and it worked great this weekend.

Speaking of this weekend, we ran a trail called Chinaman's Gulch. There were 5 other rigs; @Kay86K5 @ktmoutfront @bent72 @venevidivicci and my buddy Nate in the red K5.

I like that tie down system.

Did the spare stay in place the way you had it rigged?

I bet it's nice to have a tailgate for that new Q :D

The tailgate works great for the Q! Guess that's why they have this thing called "tailgating" huh? :rotfl:

Yeah tire mounting did work. I got some of the big rubber wheel chocks for each side of the tire. Bolted a couple anchor points to the bed for the strap. I let a lot of the air out of the tire so it would smash down. I did have to add a small strap to pull it over towards the bed rail. Otherwise when I cinched down the tire it wanted to lean in a lot. I was surprised how well it stayed put and didn't flop around.

I do have a more permanent plan that is my next project.

Looking good man! I'm loving the "make my truck more useful for what I do" mods. So many of the builds are all about suspension/axle/engine type stuff, then when it comes to the small quality of life stuff a lot of guys don't seem to post up. Love it.

ah...good idea letting some air out. I had a bitch of a time trying to keep mine from loosening up on the trail in an upright position. I really like what @D Rat did with his on the burb.
