'89 R3500 Crew Cab 2wd to 4wd conversion & beyond

Started out with 2wd TBI350 with SM465 to current 4wd with 454, 700r4, NP241
I think I've decided next year I will not be lazy and actually swap the tube doors on. Trail running is too slow to push air thru the foot vents and the heat just sits down there on the floor boards. We end driving along with the doors hanging open to get air flow across the floor.
Not sure exactly what kind of setup you have but I've been eyeballing these fans at the shop thinking they would work good as a booster for heat/ac systems that don't work like they should. Or to pipe the heat into the back seat. They're fairly inexpensive and come in different hose sizes. If this is useless info for you I'm sorry. Lol

It's a non-AC truck so I have the foot vent doors on the kick panels below the dash. And the windows. That's it.

Those blower motors would be interesting to figure out a way to possible rig up in front of the foot vents. Might draw some air threw when slow moving on the trail. Really tho I almost need some sort of opening across the cab so the hot air trapped below the windows could be drawn or pushed out. I suppose I could think about using the fans to PUSH the hot air out the foot vents.

Couldn't you use the fans to pull the fresh air in, and in return that would cause pressure to push the hot air up and out?

Have to admit I'm pretty excited about having big block power. Trying not to get too geeked out about it because it's just going to be a stock peanut port 454, but still. I know it's not as cool as a 6.0L or 5.3L swap but this will be my first BBC. :pimp:

Started tearing apart the donor truck so we can get some of the cash investment back.

Turns out the axles have factory 4.56 gears. Figured it had at least 4.10's from the way it pulled on acceleration.

You will notice it even has a dump bed.

Interesting power steering cooler setup that I assume is factory.

Always fun to see previous owner wiring work. I think this may have actually been for a headlight upgrade to relays:

You will also notice in the picture above on the firewall the obligatory windshield wiper pump add-on versus fixing the original pump setup.

Scott was asking why the new boat anchor wasn't very snappy on acceleration.

I'm thinking that the FI will fix most of that

I'd probably clean up the inside of the exhaust manifold to help the flow, if you don't use tubes...

Someone is making up stories, maybe because his thread got hijacked....

I said it IS very snappy. However after discovering the 4.56 gears I'm sure that helps with stock tires. It was nearly impossible to accelerate on gravel without spinning tires.

My 6.2 diesel is like that... huge power..
Ever see "the abyss"? There's a part where a drill falls off a giant underwater cliff (abyss) and it takes all kinds a stuff out with it. That's similar to the "power" you speak of here... unfortunately that's not how we measure power. Sorry bud.
