'89 R3500 Crew Cab 2wd to 4wd conversion & beyond

Started out with 2wd TBI350 with SM465 to current 4wd with 454, 700r4, NP241
Just put a jack stand on the tail for support
Come to think of that, I could also make something with some 2x4s that would stay with the stand.

I should clarify. I'm not getting into the guts, just gonna pull the pan, change the filter, and the manual shifter shaft.

Oh and to reflect on your exhaust reroute comment, I have my 350 dumping out right in front of th me tire on either side and it’s jusr fine. I was initially worried about drone but it’s actually very tolerable in the cab

I think they are 117" & 130" for the 2 wheelbases. So a longbed has about 13" in front and 11" in the rear versus a short bed.

My concern would be how the cross members work out. I have one at the back that is basically just over the receiver hitch. That's the one I think could be different and pushes the tank towards the axle. I also think this could be where the differences

Maybe this weekend I'll flip the 26 gallon tank up under sancho and see how much room there is. I'm thinking another 7" will be tight without a huge lift.

Speaking of project funds, anyone need parts off a 95 K3500 with no transmission, tcase, or rear driveshaft?

Another thing I'm debating is whether I should keep the stock converter or if I should get something aftermarket. I've had good luck with with the Hughes Towmaster converter in my 700r4 but I'm also thinking the stock one on the 4l80e should be good since it was bolted to a 454. Greg also mentioned that he could build me a converter.

True, and luckily it's a known unknown. It's the unknown unknown things that get ya.

I've gotten old and don't like loud exhaust anymore so I'm cautious about making it too loud.

Me either, I stopped buying flowmasters years ago. FWIW the single 3" through a 21" magnaflow is manageable through the drivers rear bedside on my SWB. If you swung it over the passenger side and it being further back it would be even better for the driver. I should
also note that I don't have any drone, just a louder exhaust note WOT.
