Pictures after todays work. Cut and buffed out all the clear coat runs, removed most of the taping, have some stubborn tape I'm going to wait for the paint to dry a little more and I put on a few trim pieces to see what it would look like.
My grill and bezels looks real bad now. The grill has a piece broken off at the bottom and the none chrome parts look crappy. Might have to touch them up with some black paint.
Overall I'm really happy with how it turned out, it is no where near a show rig but its a suburban and my first start to finish paint job. Done lots of body work projects but never seen one all the way through. Usually my old man ending up spraying them.
As for the color, I was planning on direct factory but at the last minute in the paint store, the omni match to the origional PPG paint code gave me 5 different versions. For one, this was the cheapest but also seemed to have the most depth, the darkest option closer to the original didn't seem to have as much depth. And like the guy at the paint store said, if I ever change my mind and really crave the origional two-tone again it wouldn't be hard to add the silver (doubt I will).
So now to make some room in my garage and bring it home to continue putting trim on it and remove the knocking 350. I need to round up small parts such as gaskets for all my door handles. This kind of work will be nice to do in my garage. I had to send a picture message to my sister in law... shes part to thank, if she hadn't helped finish off the dying 350, who knows when I would have gottan it painted.
