89 Suburban is gone....added a K5 in it's place..87 V30 WONTON

Gonna be some figuring thats for sure. I want the engine down where its at but I know it’s going to be to low to clear the crossmember. We need our ORD parts so I can get a better idea of where she needs to go. One thing I do know, is the trans is going to have to come forward. I wanted to try and keep the stock location, but with this d.i. pump connections on the back if the block it would not be serviceable.

That's a big gap. I have no update on the cross member. It's not looking good for my new driveshafts?

It’s hard to say at this point. We’re just kind of floating in the breeze right now.

You guys planning on keeping the vacuum pump on there? That's where the Silverados with that engine get the vacuum for the brake booster.

No, the vacuum pump is getting replaced with a power steering pump kit.

Spent a couple half days hanging with @Fastereddie bench racing and wrenching. Glad to have his help for sure, this build wouldn't be happening without him and his neighbor Matt. Plasma cut my bent bumper off and dropped the skid plate & ditched the trailer hitch. Preparing for a tank swap and tube bumper. Prepping a tailgate for when the top comes off & plans for a diy bikini top from sunbrella. Nothing super exciting but had a great day.

A few more things worked on today with @Fastereddie. Cut out the non effective down tubes on the b pilar to prepare for a new cross bar. Rear seat pulled for good and area cleaned up a little. Ed got the ORD cross member in and sorted out some of the wiring along with removing previous owner wiring. More to come tomorrow, the heat got to us today.

So here’s some shots of the dilema. The oil pan is a fat ass biotch. I need this engine to come down but it’s already resting on the x-member. I didn’t want to move the x-member down and sacrifice up travel but I dont see much choice.

Any thought to notching the cross member and adding plate back in to gain the clearance you need?

No migusta. I’m going to mount the engine where it fits and then either space down the ord or have to build one. I don’t want to cut up a brand new x-member.

Working on the pump access hatch now. Steering box plate kit is here also. Holy sheet!

Anyone have the link to Merrick's post here with the hatch he used?
