Have pity on a helpless fool

So I pulled the plastic off my long since removed front clip and found another radiator like object (not my little oil cooler). It is approximately the size of my radiator but just not as thick.

What was this? My first thought is tranny cooler, but the PO had an aftermarket one and the stock radiator has one.

Please have pity on a helpless fool

OOOOHHH, yeah that is the last part of the project that I have yet to study up on. "I cannot wait to open that can of worms".

Thanks so much for having pity on my dumabss

Chris give me a call and I can help with alot of your question.
I'm willing to help answer anything I can.

That's not that bad I just got mine done, pretty easy with the right parts.
Mine is blowing about 40 degrees

As for the fans you ordered I just installed them a couple of weeks ago had to make all the mounts because I didn't like the ones that came with. Not that hard to do.

No offense to you Teck, because your build is probably the most awesome thing I have ever seen, but do not be surprised if I struggle through my build a bit more than yourself. Same thing with ryoken, you would have thought that guy co-invented the K5 before he moved on to becoming the Dos Equis man.

I am saving that get out of jail free card for truly desperate times. Lets hope that day never comes.

No offense taken.
I'm not here to judge your build and don't expect anyone to compare theres to mine.
But if I can help make things easier for you I would be glad to help.

Agreed,no was imply nothing of the sort, your build gives us all hope of what we can achieve through perseverance and dedication, not a bar which to measure our builds by. Plus comparing builds would be stupid in my case. All I am saying is that I truly appreciate your generosity and will reserve your time till when I am truly f'd in my A and need my proverbial Morgan Freeman.

Cage Building Questions

So I am going to try to build an A pillar, B pillar, at cross bar from left to right on the A pillar for the main dash support, and finally two cross bars going from the A to B pillar for an overhead panel.

I then will run 1.25" to make a center console going from the dash to the rear of where the existing console would end.

The 2 questions I have is did anybody ever come to a conclusion about tying into the frame? I have read we seems like 1,000s of threads arguing about this. I was planning on running Kert's floor plates, and then the next step would be to weld the bottom of that plate either directly to the frame (with tubing of course) or to use his frame attachment with poly bushings. The main argument was that the bolt would simply shear, rendering this ineffective. The counter-argument was that without them the floor would tear bc the tub couldnt move independent of the frame.

2nd question. The console would cover up the floor shift for the tcase. My original thought was to try to buy a longer shifter (which I cannot find) or to weld another rod onto it (bend it to fit). Unless there is another option? Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Autometer Gauges

I thought I would post a pic of the gauges I got. I have not seen anybody run them on here, or even a digital gauge, so I am not expecting an awesome response.

I got oil and tranny temp gauges, but I am going to return the tranny temp gauge. I thought the Compushift II display unit was just for programming, but apparently it will give you all sorts of read outs like temp, speed, etc.

Tubing Notcher

tubing nothcher installed, waiting on bender, then I guess I gotta go get some DOM.

I dont suppose there are already bend plans for the A pillar? The bender I purchased does 4.5" radius where I was told most only 5.5" so that might throw it off a little.

Also I do not want to start the long debate of software vs hand math vs chalk lines, but a piece of DOM for the A pillar (assuming its 12' long) would cost around $100-$120 bucks. So if I screw it up twice then I would have paid for most softwares.

Anybody have an idea of the longest piece of tubing I should need?

I'm a believer in, if your gonna solid mount something, solid mount it.. if your using bushings of some sort, use bushings.. no mixing and matching... just seems to be asking for tears in metal imo..

I run Kert's plates, and yes, the intentions are to tie into the frame using poly bushing cuz I retained my factory soft mounts...

but I am BY FAR the minority in here on that subject.. most will chime in with "my cage has been welded to my frame, blah, perfect, not rocket science, blah, your an idiot, I'm hardcore, yada, blah.."

I went cable shifter on t-case stuff to allow mounting anywhere..

I ran digitals in one of my chevelles, twas fun... :D

oh, and just buy DOM by the stick.. it's the cheapest rate.. most stick are between 18 and 22ish feet...

The place I originally priced it out at was not varying the price by length. So shorter pieces are easier to transport and move, but generally longer = less waste.

Well, I'll probably take some heat off you there. This cage will not even come close to hardcore. Then again, if I find myself upside down, its bc I ran into a ditch after happy hour, not because I flipped it in the tuff-truck challenge.

I liked the idea of using the plates bc the cage can be removed if necessary. I am also not replacing my body mounts.
