'90 K5 "Project Sanity" Sold 7/5/2018

Always something going here or there!

That firewall looks totally different from when I saw it last night, nice job!

I get dirtier as the truck gets cleaner...:haha:

I figured I "might as well" seeing as access to the firewall and stuff will be impossible later. Doesn't take much to spruce it up some.

As for the parts trading, it does always seem I have something you might need and vicy versy. Not sure I have anything left of value to you though...and if not there is always cash.

Good update Buddy!
It's kind of funny I was looking for you thread last night to give you a kick in the ass! But I couldn't find it! Lol!
Keep it up! Looks good! :waytogo:

and Thanks again for everything! thumb:

I guess I should re-hash the build outline as it has changed. Stuff always changes, as life does. This 'build' has been going on for quite some time and many things in my life have changed dramatically along the way.

So, the current plan is as follows.

Swap in the 5.3 and 4L60e with the old 241 TC. I have a brand new TBI K5 tank going in with a fuel pump and pick-up assembly from a TPI camaro for the fuel side of things. I'm leaning on Russel a fair bit for this swap, and will continue to do so when it comes to the wiring and harness mods.

Once it's in and running/driving I need to take it in and have a full on "out of province" inspection done so I can register, insure and plate it here in Alberta.

Once I achieve that milestone I need to take a good look at the calendar, and my finances and proceed from there. The plan is to take it to Blazer Bash next year. I have a pact with my good friend in BC...both of us vowing to have our junk ready to go for BB '15. If I'm enough ahead of schedule I'll get the HP D60 re-geared and built and throw the SF 14 bolt in as well. If not I'll go down there on my half ton stuff and have fun anyways.

Drivetrain, either before, or after BB'15, will be the 5.3, 4L60e, drivers drop electrically shifted T-case (still on the hunt for a 243 or a 263 and wiring). SF 14 rear with ARB and 5.13's, HP D60 front, high steer, X-over, 5.13's and another ARB.

The goal is reliable, comfortable, air conditioned, and capable rig for mild and moderate wheeling. So still 'sane', but well built.

"Might as well" is Looking good Rene'
I like the plan...seems the 14BSF is becoming quite the popular swap these days!

That engine(less) bay is looking great! :waytogo:

Those "three little words" can cost you quite a bit of time, but you can't argue with the results!

Looks awesome! I love the plan as well, this is basically what I want my truck or next truck to be.

Also, it looks like Eric's line in your sig is coming true :haha:

You will love the 5.3/4L60e swap.
Engine bay looks good all cleaned up.

Trying to do a little each night. Got the Jeep XJ shaft installed on the weekend.

Got the DIY4X LS engine mount stuff painted up and bolted up to the engine and the frame.

Tonight I removed the intake, fuel lines etc from the top of the motor, did some minor cleaning, and I feel it's now a manageable chunk I can work with.

That leaves this for Russ to help me with...:eek1:

Good Lord I hope that can be pared down a lot. What a ridiculous amount of wiring!

It seriously aint no thing after you take it step by step.

Here is mine in process, the bunch of wires going to the top all get removed from the harness.

I'm on board with everything except the electronically shifted transfer case. Why????
