'90 K5 "Project Sanity" Sold 7/5/2018

I'm on board with everything except the electronically shifted transfer case. Why????

Martin

Something a little different, and I can mount the switch to my convenience. I'll be doing a console with shifter and stuff...so it'll get integrated into that.

Not irritated?

I am plodding through the best I can, if I was irritated it was at having to work Saturday. I'm not gonna work another Saturday til there is snow on the ground...

I had the engine and tranny in and out three times today. Try one, AC compressor fouling on the frame.

Called Russell...found out there are other mount brackets available. Good thing...

Remove AC stuff, attempt to stab engine. Got the mount brackets and plates on backwards. Engine too far forward. I lift it up, swap the brackets and try to slide it all the way in. Gets real close, and I get one mount bolt in...but the drivers side won't drop because the corner of the pan hits the cross member.

Out it comes again.

I'm gonna work on a cross member this week, then rip the old one out and hopefully move forward.

Just like mine.

I deleted all the ECMs in my truck. Then kept the electronic 273.

But truthfully I've had zero issues with the electronic shifting. In many years of driving it.

Ahh good to hear! Progress is good and time in the garage is most relaxing even if it is pulling a engine a few times to get it right!

Maybe a party to help out...

I've just had to replace a lot of those stupid motors on customers trucks.

Pretty excited to see what the fab king comes up with. I'm sure it will be sweet. :waytogo:

Awesome to see ya workin on the old girl again. :thumb:

Minor update, built an engine cross member that'll work with the LM7 5.3. I'm embarrassed how many hours I have into this thing, although it turned out all right. I snapped a few pics, but it's such a weird shape it's had to really get a feel for it no matter how I turned it, so I threw it up into the frame and hope you get a better idea. Obviously I'm not leaving it unpainted, but I figured it'd be easier to photograph in bare steel. It's gonna be (is) satin black. Once the engine is in place I'll take a few more of pan clearance.

Demon44 (Luke) showed up tonight. He delivered a Ford Hi-Pinion D60 I hornswoggled out of Russel recently. Up til now the cash outlay has been minimal with all the horse trading I've been doing with Russel...that's about to change as the 60 gets built.

For now I'll put it off to the side while I collect parts for it and stay focused on getting the 5.3 swap done.

That's my mid-week update. I don't get much done on 'school nights'...
