'90 K5 "Project Sanity" Sold 7/5/2018

Not for sale...or being improved in order to sell. I'm working on a pair of things that are needing to play nice together. I've never been a fan of my upper rad hose assembly, even though it didn't leak. Because I'm using the welded aluminum rad I already had, the hose barb sizes don't match those on the engine. This makes for a multi piece hose...Then my Hot Underhood Air System routing leaves a pretty small window for the upper hose to route through between it and the serp belt. Step one is remove the upper hose completely, need a clean sheet of paper there. Step two is make a small steel stand-off mount to firmly hold the H.U.A.S. firmly in place. I'm at step two. lol

I had a sight glass/bleeder assembly in the upper hose. A small line from the steam lines went to it to purge air from the system. I'm thinking now of teeing it at the overflow line instead for a cleaner install. Should purge just fine up there...

Didn't get much done today, more or less spent the time getting re-acquainted. Still more than I've done to it since spring.

Well I had to cross one thing off the list or face calling the day a failure. So, I installed the last remaining shock. I really hate bolting these shocks up, they have so much pressure in them it's just a giant finger mashing pain in the ass. Still, it's just two bolts.

I route the little ratchet straps around them and suckem back to length

I hate doing shocks

I feel your pain.

I've spent hours on one bolt before (a rusted one, that broke, then remove part, break other bolts while removing part, drill, easy out, break easy out, torch, redrill, tap for larger bolt, install part, fix other broken parts while removing for that ONE F*%@#*G bolt!)

I sought out your build thread after noticing your avatar and found myself on an interesting read spanning the better part of a decade.

Nick (bix) was here for a week just after Christmas. Temps were OK so we went to my favorite junkyard a few times. They had an 89 Blazer there that was almost complete when we found it. I grabbed the AC compressor and AC lines off of it, so I'm down to only needing to find one AC line I know I have and getting it recharged. I started making the fuse block mount. I also re-did my upper rad hose and the cold air intake is now firmly mounted. I also got the front brakes finished and bled.

Then it got cold, and has been stupid cold for a while now. I don't mind cold, and do have a propane heater...but it just takes way too much fuel to get it OK in there.

Temps are supposed to drop down to -34 C by Thursday. It's only -19 C now...

If it warms up I'll get out there again soon.

I'd love to post up some cool progress pics and stuff, but I'd have had to make progress first. Haven't touched either in months now.:doah:

Well with Nick here I find I get more motivated to do stuff. With his recent successful header purchase we went in on a "U fit" exhaust kit from Summit. Nick finished his exhaust yesterday, today it was my turn. Actual progress was made...

I am using stock cast iron manifolds, then 2 1/2" pipes into a "Y" behind the T-case becoming single 3". Flowmaster super 44...

So a few craptastic pics from my phone.
