91" HP Dana 60 hub Remove HELP!!!

Everyone's gotta learn st some point. I have help on that end thankfully. I just don't want to screw up the internals having no prior experience with it. Not looking to fix my f ups ya know. Slow down and ask questions when needed and maybe it'll all work out is my thought.

No doubt. I'm all for people learning and we're all here to help you learn. I just wanted you to understand the monumental difficulty in properly retubing an axle w/o hacking it.

Dude this was too easy. I wanted to use the 'proper tools' but I resorted to the punch and hammer. No problemo Thanks y'all:waytogo: I still want the right tool to set the right torque I'm thinking. Anyone know what the little pin on the first collar is supposed to do? I see what it does but it makes no sense yet.

You torque the rear nut down. And the pin lines up with a hole in the washer, which doesn't allow the nut to back off.

Might want to look into making your truck driver's drop and leave the Ford axle as is. I run a '79 Ford 60 which is a bolt in deal. Not sure what the spring spacing is on your '91 but if you can make that work (even relocate your spring mounts on the frame) it might be "easier".

None of this type of stuff just falls into place but you can definitely pick your battles if you look at it from a few different perspectives before you dive in head first. Not sure what trans you're running but driver's drop 241 transfer cases are plentiful and can be a bolt in deal behind a 700r4/4l60e.

Just something to think about before you go hacking up your axle...

Converting an old score 8s k5 to 4wd with Artec three link and pan hard kit. Full truss and all. Needs to be a pass drop to match the doubler I scored for this :)

Very cool! Pics? Build thread?

Dude trying to take the c's off the axle tube are a BIAT*H

I cut the welds and heated the c and damn if I can't get the things off. I'm wondering if I need to heat the c even more because it wont hardly budge. Any thoughts?

How sure are you that you've cut 100% of the weld out? Even a small bit left could really give you grief.

Also how big a torch (assuming you're just using an acetylene torch)? I bet you aren't heating it fast enough and the heat is transferring through to the tube so they're growing at the same rate.

I'm on a budget and hoping to use the old c's. I may try dry ice inside the tube and then after an hour or so hear the c again and bang bang. We'll see soon.

Or buy a rose bud for your torch and get on with things...

BTW, as most "torchers" know, you can crank the oxygen a little high on a rosebud, and really scare the neighbors......

I got one to sound almost exactly like a .30 cal on full auto one time......

So, another good reason to buy a rosebud......
