91 K5 -Procrastination Build - bikini top!

It was custom. I sent him the dims for the winch (from Warn's site) and asked him to pull it back as far as possible to help approach angle. I've got about 1"~1.5" between the winch and core support. Placement worked out really good because the release push/pull handle is just outside the grille so it's still easy to use.

how much different would it be if the winch were outside the grille?

Honestly I'm not sure at the moment, ,y guess would be about 6" different. I'll try to get a measurement this evening on how far out the face of the winch would be if I were still using a Warn combo mount.

Is that bumper center the normal one Kert builds or did you get him to custom build it to push the winch closer to the radiator?

I just compared and it wasn't as much of a savings as I thought, only saved about 4.5". This is comparing my Diy4x to my old Warn combo mount pictured.

Hmmm. I'll have to do some math and see how much that would save me in angle. I like the idea of it, but part of me wants to keep certain parts of the chevy aesthetic reminiscent of the good ol days.

Man John now that I think about it I've build and destroyed 1 K5 and now I've built and broke my K10 (sorta a K10 anyway) since you started the never ending project! Hint Hint!!!!! Get busy!!!
