91 K5 -Procrastination Build - bikini top!

I'd put a spring clamp on the front springs or you will bend that top leaf really fast.. Ask me how many sets I have changed because of that and because of them going negative...

I plan on putting some bump stops on pretty soon to keep from going negative. Droop is less of an issue, right?

Just read all 68 pages, good work! This blazer just screams beefy [emoji14]

Thanks man! I've got a couple of small hurdles and she'll be ready to for a 4wd shake down run. After that I'll be focusing on finishing the cage.

No drop is probably more an issue because the spring is unsupported and you can bend the spring under load and unload scenarios, the factory clamps on the 52s should be fine unless you moved them or took them off.

Different springs but same issue. I went through 6 sets on my dodge because I didn't know you can't jump a leaf truck that much.. Lol so now I really really mess with my crap so it doesn't go negative and isn't ever unsupported if I can help it..

Wow that hurts to look at! I'll definitely get the bumps and clamps together soon. Thanks!

I've been weighing the same thing but looking at Kert's front half cage kit, it might be cheaper to buy his. I figure a bender, degree wheel, die and notcher will be $900+, PLUS the cost of tubing and learning/waste. I don't know...

I'm really leaning towards one like kay86k5's design, just a hair taller. Something like the Four Wheeler "premudder" project truck.

Been waiting on this for a few weeks, rear 205 mount from Behemoth Drivetrain (first saw it in Dirtroadoutlaw's build thread).

Plans are to mount this to a traction bar crossmember I have from Kert.

The halo is too low and close to your head (both sides). I can sit in either seat and lean over and touch the bar with my head so I'm afraid of me or someone else getting hurt while wheeling. I've looked long and hard at it thinking about fixing it but I'd have to cut the halo and B pillar bars to stretch and raise them. From the pics I can see Kert's kit has the halo at least 2" higher and wider, I think it'll be easier to start over and maybe use some pieces of the first cage to reinforce the new one.

I really hate to pull out the current cage because a close friend was generous and built it but it boils down to the fact it's a head buster so something's got to change.

As for the top chop, I really want to do it as I love the open top feel of my wife's Jeep. Now would be the best time but the down side is I have zero body work skill so this mod will depend on a friend.
