damn 47's, did you trade for them or sell the 42's and use the cash to get 'em. look sweet. still gona run the h1's or you got different rims to run?

Better invest in some longfield cv axle shafts

That's what I want but I doubt the budget can stand them. I'm not sure what I'll do, all I have is standard Spicer 35 spline stuff and I'm sure the tires will shred those like D30 stuff. :doah:

It was wierd how it all worked out - a friend called and asked if I wanted to sell the 42's, I said lemme think on it. I called another friend to price various possible replacements and he had these "used" (~500 mi) tires for sale. I upgraded for $200. :pimp:

Oh, I intend to use the H1's if I can get them together. I wouldn't mind a set of wider standard type wheels but I just don't have a bunch of money to throw at beadlock wheels.

You're right, they are insane... I may be too for trying them. It's hard to appreciate just how big they are until you stand next to them.

I'm going to play with them this weekend and see what mods have to be done to the H1's. Word on the street is I'll need to trim the width of the mag insert, I hope not because it seems like that's be a pita to make straight cuts.

I'll be following Readymix's footsteps and start collecting hydro assist parts soon.

those are sweet. I was actually building my truck around the 47" ltb's but i couldnt pass on the 44's.. anyways sweet score and i cant wait to see them mounted up.

what kind of standard rims would u run since ur running drw60/70hd? i cant wait to get back to workin on my truck

If I had the money I'd probably get Trail Ready's and convert to SRW. Since the rear is actually SRW width before installing spacers it's good to go. I could always try to trade front hubs with someone or worst case get some new SRW ones from GMPartsDirect for about $300. That's the perfect scenerio...

Realistically, I guess if I have trouble with the mags I can always get some PVC ones precut to a custom width. :dunno:

i wish jerzey didnt suck so bad.. in 1996 I went up 12" leafs and 3" bl... getting ready for rocks and 53" michelins... today it would be on 54" boggers...

but the new lift laws passed in 1997 :doah:

and I want the truck street legal.....

p.s. nice lookin tires.... puttin them on that rubicon???? :haha:

... so I could buy some 47's! :woot:

LTB.jpg

I may regret buying these 'cause they are :eek1: B-I-G :eek1: but the opportunity was there so I jumped. :dunno: I figure if they break too much junk I can always sell them for enough to get another set of 42's.

Sorry but not much else to update; I bought the tires, welded on an ORD steering plate but not much else.

I definitely have some :hack: to do.

Nice find dude:D:D You'll get used to them in about a month, it just takes a while for the shock to wear off. I don't even notice how big my 49's are now. The only down side is that even 44's look small now:haha::haha:

ahem, I dont remember you posting pics of those :deal:

Dang Wes, I didn't even think you had a truck anymore.:doah:
Taking this thread to the top.

I worked on my "project" today.

Got the D60DRW put in under the 6" Skyjacker front springs sitting on 1" + 4 degree tapered zero-rates from JKW Off Road. Put the 37" Goodyears on 12 bolt H1 wheels, too.

Tomorrow I'm planning to remove the 454/465/205 and putting them in the shed for storage. Gonna separate all 3. Will decide later what to do with them as far as rebuilds go. The 465 will not be used as I'm planning a TCI 350 tranny hopefully from Summit.

I'm waiting for the winch mount (like in the above pics but with the B52's incorporated as one piece) to get here on Wed. In the box will be some rear spring hangers, forward end, to move the springs inboard slightly to run a true 1 ton rear (D70HD when I find one) and a shackle flip to fit a K30 to move the springs inboard also.

After reading this thread again, I'm amazed how much John and I think alike. I had already planned this buildup using these parts, etc., for some time and then I opened this thread and found almost the exact same thing I'm planning/building.

I will try to get some pics up if we put the cab on tomorrow. Be aware, the rear will be sitting low as I have nothing done to it as far as a rearend swap and lift go.

yea john, quick slacking! it finished yet?:haha:

Oh yeah, cranked it yesterday and spent today wheeling it! :woot:

:doah:you know better than that...

TARussell and I spent Sat building the Doubler and 205. Tried to get going on the 4spd (ORD 32 spline main shaft swap) but we need some bushings so I'll order them this week. Hopefully I'll have the assembly together in the next 2~3 weeks so I can try to crank it.

I did mess up on one thing, I forgot about doing the twin stick shift shaft mod on the 205 until after we blew through assembling it. :doah: I may tear it back apart and do it before installation, if not I doubt it's a huge loss.

I still haven't got the last 2 wheels to hold air yet. I'll post up the pics as soon as they're on. :wink1:

Been real busy lately but finally took some time to work on the rear brakes. Until now, I had not totally assembled everything so there was a little fear of everything working together. Today was the day, it's all together!!

To review; the axle is a D70HD w/ 5.86's and a spool. I had a new flange welded on that will accept a front D60 caliper bracket. The rotors and calipers are also from a front D60. I had to redrill the stud holes in the rotors for the OE 70HD wheel studs. I have Moser axles to go in it but because of the spool it's difficult to move so they wont go in until it's ready to crank.

Looks good, John. Will the H1's clear over those calipers and mounts?

Who made the u-bolt plates?

Yeah, I had the H1's & 42's on it a few months ago but I haven't had the new tires on it yet. I still have a LOT of trimming to do before they'll fit.

The u-bolt plates were made by Blue Torch Fab, I got them before Kert started making his.
