91 K5 -Procrastination Build - bikini top!

looks good man, what master cylinder do you plan to use? you gona use a proportioning valve as well?

to hijack, i finally got my truck driving and 4wd capable, but still gatta trim more out of the fenders but she drives pretty straight and ive had her up to 70mph with only minor vibration at the higher speeds. definitely feels great to be able to drive it again! how much more do you got left before you can start driving it?

Thanks guys!

I bought the 99 C3500 master cylinder listed in the part number thread. I'll probably install it and finish plumbing the brakes next weekend.

I also started cutting the fenders this weekend... what a PITA. I've done minor trimming before but when you get into the double walls, etc on a big cut it's a real pain. I've got to get some more sawzall blades before I can do any more.

As for getting it driving I've still got a lot to do. The Doubler and 205 are built but I've still got to build the 4spd (installing 32 spline shaft). Once those are in I can bust off the motor and work out the bugs. I've already got a rear d-shaft to use but I figure I'll need a fancy HAD piece for the front and I need the t-case in to measure for that.

thats a big rear end!

Man you know it! You should see it in person, with the 4" tubes, 3/4" u-bolts and big calipers it looks uber beefy! Once I get the tires on it though I think it'll lose some of it's effect.

hah! you can over to our site so i came here. i still have a pitcher of that kool-aid marty's got. :haha: anyway that's a fine lookin truck man.

you still got those 47s? i need to come over and check this out! i wanna do the rear discs on mine!

No, the 47's are gone - Lar300mag bought them. They were cool but just waaaay too big for my build. I've ordered more tires but it may be a few weeks before they are shipped. That's not a big deal though since it's not running yet.

You're welcome to come over any time you want. There's not a whole lot to see, just an old K5 rotting in my back yard. :doah: Now that Christmas is over I'll be working on it again. Hopefully, I'll get some momentum going and maybe wheel it this summer. :fingerscrossed:

what did you decide to go with?
i really wanna change to discs before i do some wheeling cuz i hate drums! lol how much did you spend total? i would like to look at your setup when your done to help decide what i wanna do! i have so many plans and no idea where to start:haha:

I ordered some 43" SX's. These tires have been "coming soon" for quite some time now but insider sources say they truly are close so I pony'd up. We'll see, if they never materialize I have the option of switching to any other Interco tire so it's a win/win deal.

It's hard to say what I've got in my rear brakes as they are a one-off set up using front D60 parts. I''ve probably got $300 in it plus the buddy hook up on the round flange on the axle and welding a friend did.

Doing rear disc with the typical 3/4 ton rotor and small GM caliper is a breeze nowadays. Everybody offers inexpensive brackets (~$50 a pair) and the remaining parts are available at local parts houses for maybe $150 or so (I think). Super easy stuff.

How's your truck coming along?

well...i had my truck die a couple of weeks ago so i need to do a tune-up and replace the ignition module and coil(i hope thats it). when getting my truck home, i had a rear brake cylinder brake(hence wanting the rear disc) and i got a winch for Christmas so im getting Kert to build a sweet bumper for me! thats where i stand now, waiting on some money to fall in my lap

oh and i gotta build some rocksliders because my rocker panels are full of rust so i figure it will be easier to cut it out and kill two birds in one stone. something similar to blazenoffroad's. all this little stuff keeps coming up lol

Just a bump for my new tires, 14.50x43x16.5 SX's! :woot:

More pics this weekend of the tires and hopefully trans & Doubler.

Sorry, it'll be the weekend before they're mounted.

Fwiw, as they sit they measure 41.5" tall.

Sweet. If you don;t mind me asking, where do you get them from and how much were they?

I need tires badly and have been looking at the 42" TSL's, but this could be another option.

I got them from Performance Off Road in Gulfport, they were a hair over $1800. If you call ask for Chris, he's the owner and used to be on here a bunch (NOT4SHOW). He's been too busy to play online for a while now but he said he will probably come to the m&g in Feb.

To be honest, I don't know. The sidewalls are supposed to be tougher but I've never owned a set before. I too was looking at the 42" TSL's but when I saw these I figured they'd be cool to have just because they're different. I will say the tread is brutally deep! Interco's site still doesn't have specs but I'd venture to say they are 28/32" like the bigger SXII's (which is slightly deeper than a TSL @ 27/32").
