91 K5 -Procrastination Build - bikini top!

any clearance issues with the gas tank and pumpkin? Being 3" back and all. I'm only half that and wouldn't mind going farther :D

Yeah, I don't have a long slip front driveshaft either.

Martin

I have measured and remeasured until I'm dizzy, I just couldn't believe that there wasn't more travel than that. With all of the hype of folks using bizzaro long travel driveshafts with 52's I was certain I would need to spend a crazy amount on a shaft. I'm thrilled, now I can use some parts I already had and spend that money elsewhere.

I was gonna say. Don't be disappointed. The price for a longer travel slip section are redonkulous. Or you can go square shaft. But now you don't have to worry. I will say be careful your first time out. Flexing under power and Los is not as the same as driving up a ramp. But definilty a good starting point.

Yeah, I'm a flat land, mud dobber at heart so all the climbing and crawling will be a huge learning curve for me.

First problem I had was going off camber up a hill of sandy loam on the throttle. Wheel dropped down and the springs twisted just enough for it to split. That blows half way up a hill by the by. Lol.

I bet that does! :haha:

I was thinking the spot directly under the axle on the front tire. :dunno:
time to get some inner fenders and stop showing off the blingy engine in there.

But if I put the fender wells back in then it gets hard to work on. Fat kids hate to climb. :D

Thanks! I've moved the rear end 4 times I think, I finally like this position.

Wrestling with what to do on the t-case crossmember. I think I'm going to hack in a half moon piece of tubing under the driveshaft to clear it. I wanted to go over it but I don't have a good chunk of steel to do it with.

I also ordered a rear t-case mount from Behemoth Drivetrain (I got the idea from dirtroadoutlaw's build). Still waiting on it to get here, I ordered it on the 2nd and said it would ship in 5 days. :surepal: I plan to call Monday if it's not delivered then.

I also realized my histeer tie rod is hitting the big pass side ubolt before getting to full lock. I swapped yo a smaller nut and trimmed the ubolt but I still need go pull the tie rod and grind a spot about an inch longer to clear it.

All that said I drove it some and it runs good. Just real boatish and lots of body transfer and roll since there's no shocks. I'm hoping a traction bar will help this too.

I'd put a spring clamp on the front springs or you will bend that top leaf really fast.. Ask me how many sets I have changed because of that and because of them going negative...
