91 K5 -Procrastination Build - bikini top!

Did you ever get those DIY4X Sliders mounted? Curious to see how the "flat" ones look since I'm looking to get the same ones for my rig when I do the lift...

Sadly not yet, they're still sitting in my living room. LOL Going to be out of town a fair amount over the next 2.5 weeks so I'm not sure when I'll get them on, I may give it a try this Thurs or Friday night.

No worries I've got the same problem with my growing parts pile lol. I'm sub'd now and will keep my eyes out for them. Good luck with all the kid stuff, sounds like they're keeping you busy.

Yeah, the older they get the busier and more expensive they get.

Warning: the sliders ain't cheap.

I here ya, my wife and I are finally expecting our first after several years off trying and a bunch of money spent and the kid isn't even here yet lol.

How so? I mean I'm sure somebody with the right tools and fab skills could knock them out way cheaper but I'm limited to hand tools and basic wrenching skills so I need something as "bolt in" as possible lol. Kert's got the Blazer version listed for $267.75 (not including shipping or add-ons) and the next cheapest kit I've seen is Chassis Unlimited for $379.99 and I'd still need to find someone to do the welding for me. Plus I'm already planning on ordering Kert's shackle flip and maybe the shock inboarding kit so the shipping cost will be spread out a little. How much did yours run with the extra support bar and plating if you don't mind me asking?

Trail Gear has sliders in different lengths with legs, free shipping from summit.

They sliders were ~$470 to my door. Now that they are powder coated they are $307.75 + options (mine were + $132 for an extra stantion and dimple die'd fill plates - different colors add to the price also so I didn't do that) + freight ($70). I caught the Black Friday sale for 10% off (parts, not freight) so they would have been $510+/-. I wasn't expecting them to be that much but I went with it.

There's no doubt they can be built cheaper at home BUT I don't have a bender set up and it's tough to poop the lump sum for a bender, dies and notcher (not to mention I'm still self teaching how to weld) so it is what it is...

Fyi, all of Kert's "finished" parts are a little higher now since he's powder coating everything. Items that are intended to be welded or modified are still bare.

Thanks for the heads up. I saw the $307 price but thought that was for a pickup needing more DOM since he still shows the $267 price for 81-91 Blazers/Jimmy's right above that. Still not a bad price for something that's bolt and go, already powder coated, and has Kert's build quality but yeah I can see how quickly the price adds up.

@skunked Thanks, I took a look at them but the arms still need to be cut to fit and welded in place. I've been debating just buying a welder and supplies to start learning how to do that stuff myself but with how little it'd be used it's hard to justify the cost right now when there are "bolt in" options out there

This is where I'm at with bender related stuff. At this point, I really have no interest in doing side work to recoup the cost so I'm ok buying things like the sliders and cage kit.

Right, I'm very pro Kert and diy4x as he's been very good to me and helped me a lot over the years. I'd much rather try to give my money to someone that supports this site AND provides great customer service than throw money at Summit or the like.

Not really much to report (as usual). :doah: *I think* we're going to have a short break between volleyball seasons (club finished last weekend, signing up for sand vb tonight, ugh... ) so I'm going to try to get a little done.

I did work on it for a couple of hours last Sunday. I've still been nit picking with a couple of spots on the windshield frame, trying to tack over small pin holes but it just blows out creating more work. I've reached a point where I'm down to 2 pin holes just big enough to poke a pick in to so I'm calling it done and will bondo over all the patches this coming weekend.

I haven't done anything with the sliders, seems pointless to install them only to take them back off to paint. I probably do need to fit them up though just to be sure there's no issues.

@83ChevyK5Blazer no tree trimming pics. There was one point I wish I had a video of though - while I was up in the lift chainsawing away my wife, father-in-law and bro-in-law were sitting in the grass watching, my neighboring hollered over that it looked like a county crew was at my house because 3 people were sitting and watching 1 guy do all the work. :rotfl: My FNL is a sour puss to begin with and did not see the humor. I owe my neighbor a 6 pack for excellent timing. Priceless.
