91 K5 -Procrastination Build - bikini top!

Normally I’d take better pics but it’s dark and wet out in “the shop” aka “my driveway”.

This is the brake pedal bracket that bolts under the dash. Rust over every inch, light pitting in some spots. It’s been soaking in a very diluted solution with seat brackets and other misc interior parts since Tuesday night.

Wow, that’s a huge difference! Thanks, I’ll definitely be using that stuff!

So I’ve been able to drive the Blazer this weekend and last weekend. Its really fun and been nice to drive it. I found 2 problems with it -

First, today I had 2 instances of pretty strong death wobble. Fortunately, both were at low speeds so I could stop quickly. Kinda scary because last weekend my daughter and I were blasting back road straight away pretty fast and hard, so thankful it didn’t do it then. I’ll try some fender washers next weekend and if they make a difference.

Second, I’m still having fuel pressure problems. It holds a solid 6psi at idle and low throttle but if you get on it the pressure drops steady and the motor gains rpm. By 4k rpm I’m between 2-3 psi and still dropping. Not really sure how to test this.

Time to get some hydro steering! I’m getting it sort of as insurance that I don’t get DW in one of those scenarios you described.

Does the fuel pressure recover when you let off the throttle?

Yeah, I’ve got 90% of the parts for assist so I guess it’s time to install it.

The pressure recovers immediately.

I also have another steering issue to figure out, I noticed the the drag link and tie rod are hitting. The mark is new so I’m certain it happened while wheeling at Stony Lonesome.

Are you running a mechanical fuel pump or electric? Sounds like the pump is not keeping up or there is a restriction somewhere.

Did you change the filter after stoney?

No. Since I was able to vary the pressure by crimping the hose and then with the new regulator I didn’t think it was the filter. I figured if it was the filter I’d have a consistent restriction / pressure.

Got a rubber line with a small kink in it? Under load the fuel cant keep up but back down at idle is when it will build back up.

No rubber line except a straight run from the front of the intake to the carb.
