91 K5 -Procrastination Build - bikini top!

No new updates. Splicing the wires on the pump pigtail seems to have fixed everything and it runs good, fuel pressure is rock solid all the time. I’ve driven it some on the weekends but no new work. I’ve got a few small things to do but I’m not going to do anything major on it until after the November ride.

No real updates (again) but I’ve been playing around with storage and “stuff” in the back. I also got some temporary fire extinguishers and Velcro holders for next weeks trip.

I’ve ordered a jug holder from @Desert_K5 that I’ll assemble and install this weekend. Eventually, I’ll install a co2 tank but sadly this one appears to have an antique date code so I’m sure no one will touch it. Plans are for co2 tank and ice chest brackets from @Desert_K5 this winter.

Most of it won’t be there for the trip but it’ll all get installed before spring. Next thing is to find a good ice chest and a way to secure it.

I leave all of mine in. The spring rates and shock valving are set up for the full load. If I take much out, the backs starts raising and rides stiff.

Yeah I can see yours being sensitive to weight. I’ll fill that cargo area eventually, still trying to decide what all I want back there.

Plans are for -
Storage box (tools, straps, shackles)
Jerry can
CO2 bottle
Ice chest
Maybe ammo cans for small junk

I did a few things this past weekend getting ready for the upcoming trip -

I put together a fuel jug holder I got from @Desert_K5 at Metroprint Nevada (see vendor forum for products)

Next up was a little trailer maintenance, repack the bearings and new seals. I checked on brakes since the drums were off and the shoes were at about 50%, apparently you have to buy assembled backing plates with shoes / magnets / everything for ~$80 ea. What a racket, they will wait. She also got new tires since I discovered I could have killed a bus full of nuns on my last trip.

Next up with a shifter linkage fix I've been putting off. One of the JB Fab linkage tabs was hitting the floor (2" clocked up Doubler), cut / bend / weld / reassemble. IT should be fixed but I need to pull it out and run it through the gears to be sure.

Last but not least was to utilize an unused tool to satisfy my Snap-on screwdriver obsession.

I’ve worked on my junk more this year than I have over the last 10 !

Aren’t you feeling ill this weekend??

Man I wish it were that easy. I wouldn’t even pretend. Normally I’d try to get off but it’s only my second week at the new job. Can’t make any waves too early haha!

I know but I had to say it.

Next spring it’s gonna be on!

Well I jinxed myself, for some reason I can’t get the front shifter to go to high. :doah:

Doesn’t matter at the moment because it will go to front & rear low and the 203 shifts great so I have low and double low. :burnout: I’ll mess with it when we get back.

Flashback to a post somewhere talking about my drag link and high steer tie rod were hitting when turning to the right. A few fixes were mentioned and I chose to go with a set of WFO reverse high steer arms, because they’re cool. :pimp: :dunno:

Well, I tried to install them tonight and it’s a no go. With the tie rod laying on the springs the arm is still almost 2” too low. Next I noticed the tie rod and oil pan have about 3”-4” clearance, I’m betting that would be an issue.

At this point, I think I’ll take @Hosalabad suggestion and get some offset tie rod ends.

Go fish....
