91 K5 -Procrastination Build - bikini top!

Just for a little proof that John does go off road from time to time here is the reason that he switched to 35-spline outer stubs not long after this breakage occurred.

He broke this stub back in the 90’s while racing his truck in a real deep mud pit with some 44” Swamper TSL’s with a really strong big-block motor and since the Spicer hubs refuse to break something had to give.

Side note - John broke that axle on his second run that day and even though the rest of the competition got to run another three to five times down the track ole NVRENUF took home the top trophy as usual.

The other piece is just a Dana 44 pinion stub that a buddy of ours broke while play’n in the swamp one day - I just thought it was cool due to the clean break.

No build update, just a satisfying day.

I drive the Blazer to a truck swap meet today, I put 140 miles on it and had zero issues. I’m super happy with it, I don’t think I’ve ever driven it more than 20 miles in a single outing. I’m guessing it’s averaging around 8 mpg’s with most of it being at 55 mph / 2700 rpm.

Ole John will never put it out there on just how BADASS his old K-10 was ( the truck that started it all for him ) but this truck in this video is somewhat similar to how John’s truck would fight for traction on the street while sling’n the ass-end from side to side and NOBODY needed seatbelts because our butts were suck’d down on the seat so hard they just weren’t needed.
This truck is a notch nastier than John’s setup but it wasn’t far from it - his motor would hold second gear at 5,800 RPM’s with 44” Swamper TSL’s and a D/L’d 5.13 gear doin doughnuts on pavement in each direction until everyone in the truck wanted to puke.
It was better than a ride at the Fair Grounds !!

I miss those days and especially John’s truck when it was in it’s prime - folks around these parts still talk about that old truck… he’s kind of like ole Burt Reynolds - a legend in the four wheel’n community but instead of “Bandit” he’s known as NEVRENUF.

I better stop before this goes to Johns head - but his old truck was just awesome to say the least.

That's why I stay away from those kind of clips. Every time I watch one I put another long block on my summit wish list with 100 more hp/tq than the previous one.

Some friends let me crash a Jeep get together today so I could play on a ramp and do some measuring for shocks. It was fun watching my wife climb the ramp. The old Blazer flexed pretty good, just as good as a couple of $$$ JKU’s with 42’s and fancy coilovers. :pimp:

Here’s a few pics, I put a bunch more in a photo album.
