91 Suburban, Family truck build. She done :(

Nice! I think the Cheap Truck challenge with Dirt Every Day/ Roadkill sucked me into wanting to wheel a Burb. Like the author of this post, the need/want to have a family fun rig helped with the decision. I had a 94 YJ that was just too small for the family, dogs and gear.

I am currently 7 months into a 9 month deployment to Africa. I am a combat medic in the Army on my third tour. Before this I was in Iraq and Afghanistan. I think things are safer here then some areas back home right now. Good thing the wife knows how to use my guns.

Well wanted to make sure, the ECM is way different between those two

@83ChevyK5Blazer have you played with the tuning yet?

Mine got 13 city and 16 highway with 37". And it would outrun Jason's K5 with the similar setup. If you haven't done any tune up work to it than it might just need some love

I haven't messed with the chip, it's a 95 ish 2 bolt main block, smog era heads, dual plane intake with an adapter and long tubes, no idea on cam. It runs okay, it just dumps fuel.

They can do that if the cam has less vacuum that the factory one

PF4 for the win

I honestly have no idea what cam is in this engine, it had goodwrench remanufactured tags on it when i bought it, definitely not performance lol

I don't have much interest in keeping tbi long term, but it is nicer than a carb on the trail.

Get yourself a rebuild kit for the TBI. It's easy to rebuild. Make sure you have good 5.7liter injectors in it with a matching chip. You dont have to do the programming to get good runability out of TBI.

I wouldn't trade my TBI for carb unless it was a get me home situation. I really enjoy the reliability off highway

It was rebuilt with new injectors, sensors, and dizzy when i put the truck together, only thing i didnt hook up was the egr stuff.

Soooooo, with the tbi running like garbage I did the best thing and put a big block in! It's getting a qjet for the time being until i can figure out what I want with fuel injection.
Engine is nothing special, an 88 peanut port, from a motor home with less than 50k.
