93 Corvette LT1 6-spd

But if you build a car to try it and you don't like it, you still have a car.

Plus, why would you not like it, it's like a full size go kart track.
But in the meantime you're not enjoying it while building the perfect car.

@folkenheath Do you have any thoughts on running straight water with water wetter or something similar? How do temps compare to a 50/50 coolant mix compare. I know there is no freeze protection, but wondering how it would be on the street

After doing some more reading, i’m going to try it and see how it does. I had to order some more engine oil from amsoil so I snagged two bottles of their coolant boost.

I think you could get a minor temp drop with that setup, and the track would like cleaning that up instead of antifreeze a lot better. Hopefully you don't test that, I would replace all the hoses since they are all suspect from age. Also flush the radiator and heater core, maybe water pump replacement while you are there?

I have a rather fast Regal I can drive in the meantime, it's just not setup for road courses, its setup to go straight.

I think I would buy an older muscle car with decent paint and body and upgrade the drivetrain and suspension, doesn't have to be perfect.

First I have a Blazer project I want to finish.

Cool, temps definitly are not a problem with the bigass dewitt alum radiator I put in it already. 240 bucks worth of brand new Gates cooling system hoses just got delivered today.
I plan on Sunday’s track coolant douching to be my last. If something does happen again I want it to be water because that coolant about spun me off the lot and that was at only 40 mph. I am signed up for two real track days in nov and dec.

In the middle east we all ran straight water, and I would say our temperature is comparable to Vegas if not sometimes a tad higher.
The only drawback was no rust inhibitors so eventually the water turns orange and long term you lose metal from the block.
But we never had any overheating problems

Does it drop below freezing in the winter there? Does the Amsoil coolant boost have any corrosion inhibitor in it?

If you are running a thermostat it probably won't change much unless you are running quite a bit hotter than the thermostat is rated.

It does drop below freezing in the peak of winter, but it is in the garage and I can keep a 100 drop light under it if I had to.
Yes it does have corrosion inhibitor.
I’m running the factory temp 180 t-stat.
The factory fan on temp is a rediculous 228.
But if I run the a/c both fans come on and the car runs at 190.

I would put a thermal switch in the head that turns on the fan on at ~185. They aren't that expensive and it could probably trigger the factory relay.

I have all the stuff from Moates and tunerpro
To try my hand a burning a new chip. Just haven’t got into that quite yet

We used to run purified water and water wetter in our liquid cooled desert race bikes. Cooled better than the coolant. Very small system without fans. Just don't sell a motorcycle in Colorado in the winter. And let the guy haul it over the rockies. He had to have the outer walls of the cylinder welded because of the cracks.

That reminds me of something I take for granted, in almost any cooling system, I use only distilled water, even if I mix it with antifreeze, I don't want mineral deposits on the cooling surfaces, or especially the seals. Distilled water can prolong the life of nearly everything in the cooling system.
