96 s10 blazer, getting a 5.3L

Made it moab today and went straight out and ran some of behind the rocks. This motor runs awesome. Kicks my old 5.7 tbi motor ass! Power comes on lower and plus great. My (kindergarten) son must have said ten times I love the new motor dad! Sorry no pics, should get some tomorrow on Moab Rim

Forgive me for maybe asking an obvious question, but I haven't done much research on the LS swaps. What do you do for a speedometer?

Use my gps! There are some guys doing other stuff but mine has not worked since the Blazer body

They are on other people's phones. The picture taking goes way down when the wife isn't here. Ran Pritchett today. Was a ton of people at chewy. Was a great day. The ledges where all pretty slick covered in dirt so wheel speed helped. The new motor rocks. It's way more forgiving with gear selection. I can pull double low 2 or even 3rd some and hammer it to pick up some wheel speed.

Here's a pic!

Here are the only two pics that really matter from this trip!

Was a great trip though. No major break downs. Need to do the knock sensor and intake gaskets on the 5.3. She ran great though. Pulls way better than my old 5.7. I was pulling and extra gear on the ledges/climbs with it.

Awesome :woot::woot:

Little late but here is the second run out of my driveway going down my road the day before I left for Moab! It really doesn't do the justice of the back end sliding one way or another down most of the road. The first trip down the road the guy in the pass seat taking the video just kept saying tree! Scott tree! Tree Scott, they are not forgiving. It was really quite amusing for me. :haha:

In Moab though we had no breakage so that was nice. I did get a knock sensor code and pretty sure an intake leak. At idle I get around a 200-300 rpm fluctuation, but it runs good. So I will get that done here sometime, before BB.

Is that a hopped up 5.3 or just stocker? Sounds real nice!

Has a tune on the computer but otherwise stock. Running camero manifolds and a flow master. It's amazing how quiet it is at idle, but comes on nice. My old 5.7 was getting obnoxious in the cab!

How much did the swap end up setting you back if you don't mind me asking. Gotta get a budget in mind you know. ;)

About $2k. I ended up with some extra parts in there like the water pump ($75), the slave cylinder /throw out bearing ($55) and the camaro manifolds ($130.) I haven't sold much of my old parts yet either which I think will end up in the $800 range. Checking Craigslist it was going to cost me $900-$1100 for a decent 5.7 tbi motor. So if I can come in around $1200-$1300 when all is said and done I'll be happy. And did I mention it kills my old motor!
