Badass build! I’m going to borrow some ideas for my 74 Kton’d.
I'm bringing this thread back from the dead!
Amber and I wanted to do something fun with the S-10 prior to Blazer Bash this year. Other than general maintenance, the S-10 has been pretty solid since we added the cage.
I really wanted to do an LS swap, but we just didn't have the time this year with all the other projects (house remodel etc.) so instead, we installed Nitrous. This will give me that V8 power when I need it, and the install wasn't too bad.
Finding a place to mount the solenoids was more difficult than anticipated due to hose routing etc, but I think it came out pretty good.
Purge line goes right through the hood. It's more centered than it looks in the picture, but the hood is all smashed up from slamming into the windshield...
We installed a Nitrous RPM Window controller to make the system foolproof (Nitrous fires above 85% throttle between 3000 and 5200 RPM).
The bottle is mounted upright in the bed.
We dropped in spark plugs that were 1 step cooler, filled it with 91 and tested with a 50 shot. That worked well so we bumped it up to a 75 shot and that also was good (no pinging).
We're pretty happy with the results and I can't wait to get it on a sand hill or something where the extra power will be needed.

Everything I've seen online says it's fine up to a 75 shot. Some people even do that dry by spraying through the MAF.
The 4.3’s are pretty stout little engines.

I have to say my 1997 Jimmy stock with the 4.3 is doing all the things that my 1997 suburban is doing with the 5.7
I am talking towing.
Driving normal unloaded, the Jimmy has better pick up off the line, much more perky.
I did however look into added power and I want a supercharger.
Haven't found one yet.
Any of you look into that?
My daily is a '97 2wd 4.3/5-speed and it's pretty spunky. It's not winning a drag race against most newer sedans though. Still, it gets 24mpg and more fun to drive than most other piles.
