Its a problem with cast aluminum wheels, more common then you would think. I'd go to steel or forged aluminum . Which is to bad cuz Classic II's look bitchin' on these trucks I have to say they are my favorite style of Aftermarket wheels next to Weld Super Singles

Do you have a picture of Jeremy's wheel :eek1: Should post that up as a good reason not to go aluminum!
 
I wanted to do steelies, but when I got these I couldnt find any for a reasonable price. They were more than I paid for those eagle's on it now.

So I got a rim on order today as well. I think Im going to have a guy at work hyrdo-cut me a piece of aluminum and than drill and tap some holes in the rim to have a "rock guard".

Also I have a buddy interested in my tires/rims, than I have another buddy who has a set of 40's on steelie's he wants to get rid of. So we shall see.....
 
On a side note, the rock found its way in when it was sitting right here:

We were trying to get over in a set of ruts, I couldnt than got mad and launched it into that hole. There was a big ledge just in front of the tires, I could still move. Just no point in digging it down we figured.

Picked up ma new rim today, got a slick deal on it. It has a couple tiny blemishes near the outside of rim by the bead. It's not like its a show truck, or is it.......:haha:
 
And God said, Let there be clutch!!!

Got my new rim swapped over, the old one has a hole I can pretty much put my fist through as well.

Trucks mobile now, we flushed the clutch out with air/water with a blow gun saturday. Unstuck the clutch, the pedal is firmer than ever. Still might be some crap in there, but it works fairly good.

Turns out the water pump actually let go, so fired a new one on. Figured out why it went, will post pics of how I made the new one better than the old one.......

Beat on it around the farm for a couple hours sat. afternoon. The gov lock in the 14 bolt makes some unhealthy clicking and banging sounds under light load and sharp corners. So a rear locker may be in the works for next year......

Will have some pic's up later this week.
 
I ran a welded rear on the street for almost a year, its not really that much worse then a Detroit
 
Do you have to gut the carrier and gob a bunch of weld in or what?

Maybe I should be proactive and just weld the thing before I explode it.

They don't call it the "Gov Bomb" for nothing. I know that if you wanted to put in a Detriot, you would have to swap to an open carrier, but what if you just want a spool? Would you still have to swap carriers? Just curious...
 
Found a good thread on pirate a while back about doing it. Basically take it apart, tack the gears together than do a test fit to make sure everything fits. Than weld her up. Thats the my version of the process.

Hard to say when Ill be able to get around to pulling it apart, as we all know how much a 8 foot tall truck fits thru a 7 foot tall door...... Or if there was a nice warm day where I could pop it apart outside would be tits as well.
