97 sas'sy Sierra/ 80 Cheep 10: tales of a phat block

I guess it got corroded just because of all the current going through it maybe. I would say make sure it's tight and use some dielectric grease this time. I've seen loose ground wires corrode like that, but never the wire that you're talking about. That is weird.

Y'all guys kill me with that nice cool weather. It's been 75-80 + degrees F here all week. I've been sweating already and you're posting snow pics! I may have to come up for a visit.

Yeah that's what my old man was thinking about greasing it. It was cold and snowing while we were dealing with. So it just got a meret tossed back on it for now :haha:

Yeah it's been a overly cold winter, with one warm weekend beginning of march. The snows been wrecked since than and it's hardly warmed up weather wise :doah:

I can't see your pics but it sounds like a mess. I've ran into similar situations before, so I feel for you.

As far as the outer lock rings for the hubs - are you talking about that big round steel ring that goes around the inner diameter of the hub? Lots of guys leave that one out. I don't really even know what it does. I always put it back in, but I don't know if it's necessary.

Yeah the wiring always has been a mess on this rig. We've cleaned a bit of it up but its never done. You know how it goes :haha:

And whats this about the hubs? Are you talking about earlier in my thread or :dunno:

For some reason I thought that was a recent post. I'm on my phone and it showed that as the last page. Sorry.

Hahaha no problem.

If I recall it was the snap rings for the stub shafts that didn't fit.

But I've only had one or two rigs that have had the inner circlip on the stubs Fwiw!

Oh so you took my advice from the future. Hahaha.

No tech update, had the K20 out today for a trail ride. Was nice to get out and tool around with it. No pics other than this one:

Specs are, 80 K10-350/t350/np205/10 bolts(3.07's) rolling on 31x10.50 super sports that walmart sold back in the day.

This rigs been around a few of my friends over the last 8-9 years, has been sitting in buddies pasture the last couple. We've jumped, swamped, jumped, burnouts galore with this thing and its taken it all. The tires are off my old K5 that I used to have years back, as well as the motor was a healthy mild built 350 that was in a 83 cutlass I used to have.

Body wise, its fairly straight, box is decent with only a few minor flaws. Drivers door was kicked in by buddy when it wouldnt run right :haha::doah:.

Sold it to buddy and it never ran right, intake gasket leaks, old old edelbrock intake/leaky gaskets, point distributor in it. He got frustrated with it and pawned it to buddy I got it from.

So ive gotta mess around with it a bit and see how it runs, appears its been put back to HEI/cast 4 barrel intake as well. Gonna see if we can get it running next weekend :woot:

I can't see the pic of the new ride for some reason. I'll have to look on my phone after work. These firewalls....

You look like a Canadian trail pimp in that top one though. :haha:

Who da man?!?!?!? :D

What you dont see in the pic is that im on a near vertical slope with a 30 foot drop below me :thumb:

No real pic update, got a starter in the k10 Saturday. It fired right up, running fairly rough. Changed all the plugs, it came with a new set. Dumped some sea foam in the oil/vacuum lines. It first started only running on 6 or so, after putting around seemed to start hitting on all 8. Sounds like a slight bottom end knock in it, not sure nor do I really care :haha:

The spicer hubs were always as hassle on this thing, and somebody packed em full of grease :doah:. So I swapped a set of 3/4 turns buddy had Layin in his junk pile. Have to change wheel bearings on one side, they a little toast :haha:

Took it out for a 1 am test bag, ran it hard for an hour and it seemed to run good :waytogo:. I forgot how well a stock Chebby on 31s is in the mud too :thumb:

Figured I'd show my macgyver fix for a split valve stem. Towed it 20 miles like that and it sat a week without losing air:

I do have this lil clip as well, I forgot how incredibly 80s loud this truck is :haha:

Got both rigs out on the weekend. K10 has some charging issues, as well as a healthy knock. Sounds like a main to me.

Got out with another buddy today with the k20, went on a nice afternoon trail ride. I'll toss some more pics up Tomorrow :thumb:

Rest of sunday's adventure. Didnt get to carried away. Buddy came out with a stock JK Rubi on 35's. For a 4 door it actually works pretty good.

Got into a good lil creek they dug where they were working in part of the pit. The guys working sure gave us funny looks when we popped out of it into the pit.
