97 sas'sy Sierra/ 80 Cheep 10: tales of a phat block

Buddy of mine got back to me, has the "416" heads on a lower mile 305 with a hatched bottom end. Not HO heads, but close enough. Should be a bit better than the truck heads.

Well got the K10 home after about a 200 mile journey. Was a good day of Gallons Per Mile in Style today. Trucks home, unloaded. Ran the Beaumont back home for the winter, had a lil cruise on saturday. 30 cars or so attended, was all good. Ill post up in my other build thread later on that one.

After sitting in my buddy's yard for a couple months, someone decided to rob the crappy cd player and sub/amp out of it. Also they robbed a complete front clip off a Dakota. Guess them asspipes really wanted them things :doah:

Cleaned the bead on one of the tires, mounted a like new spare as well. Tires are pretty checked, 3 of 4 seem to hold air long term. Prob just run em till they dont hold air unless a better deal comes along :dunno:

Switching over to nighshift, figured id put a couple hours in on the motor. Got the new Love stick slapped in, short block is basically done minus lifters which are soaking as we speak. Cleaned about a pound of good old Alberta mud off of the balancer and installed a speedi sleeve

Also got a set of HO heads for it from another buddy as well, looks like a little cleaning shall be needed. They came of a low mile motor, that had a pooched bottom end fwiw.

Pulled the heads apart today, little crustier than i thought. Cleaned up for the most part, have to buff up a couple valve seats yet. Gasket matched em as well as a little bowl blend. Couple of the spark plug holes needed a good cleanin, dug out the Kroil penetrating oil. Worked great, holes thread mint now.

Got some free time at work, got some sheet cleaned up in the parts washer. Gave em a good hotbath, buffed the intake a bit with a flapper wheel.

Picked up some more parts, just down to needing valve cover gaskets and grommets that some Alberta ****er borrowed :haha:

Was hoping to hit it hard this weekend, but got a side job changing struts on a car.... :doah::thumb:

Intake looks pretty clean. Maybe you can paint the valve covers while you're waiting on the Alberta ****er to bring the gaskets and grommets back.

I'm not familiar with the people of the various provinces of Canada, but I'm starting to wonder if those Abertans are all a bunch of trouble makers. :haha::haha: ... if what I'm reading is true... :haha:

Yeah some of dem guys are quite the characters :haha:

I was gonna use the tins off the 350 in the k10 being they have what I need. Oh well guy can always have a clean set on the shelf I guess :waytogo:

I am actually quite surprised how the intake cleaned up, she was pretty gritty looking before.

When I went from my 305 to my current 350 this summer, I ended up using one valve cover from the old 305 because I wanted to use the later model air filter or something (I can't remember). So I now have one black valve cover and one orange one. If someone says anything about it, I'll knock 'em out! :haha: :haha:

I was wondering when you would start bitching about missing parts! :haha:

Now your starting to get it! :haha:

Got some shiz done, heads assembled. New o rings/positive seals on the intake side. Re used the old ones on the exhaust as they were good still.

Quite surprised that both these sets of heads have positive valve seals on them. Never had that before taking stuff apart. Usually just o ring fragments left on the valve stem :haha:

Anyways, heads are on, torqued the mr gasket #5780G's down.
Got the valve train altogether, have to set it yet. Balancer is on.

Not bad for 2 hours of sleep :doah:

Phone not cooperating on pics....so you will have to wait.

Got a salute for a certain Alberta focker to :haha:

And here is for max fockin02

Thought my phone was fulla orange overspray making Deans dream come true :haha:
