97 sas'sy Sierra/ 80 Cheep 10: tales of a phat block

Did you sell the Carolla and the malliboo?

Just the corolla. Still got my grampala. The wife runs the car when needed.

Trying to find a well priced 2wd ranger is just about impossible. Them things seem to be holding there value :doah:

Been fairly busy, still wanna burn the 97. Had to run new hard line for back brakes pretty much from the mc. Bled brakes, did some denial and error. Came up with a bracket that bolts to the caliper on passenger side. Cycled ebrake a few times, seems like it works right.

Solved my caliper pin dilemma, ended up cutting the top pin down and using a 3/8" bolt to hold the outer pad in place. Ground the head of the bolt for clearance.

Some may see it kinda ghetto, but I'm not removing the ubolts and dropping the diff just to get this thing and apart.

But when you need new pads you will have to do it with rusted ubolts?
Can't you just unbolt the caliper. What am i missing?

The top caliper bolt doesn't have the room to slid in now, the spring perch width is About 3" wider than the squarebody stuff. Cutting it down like I did gives a guy just enough room to get it out without much hassle.

Ok that makes sense. What's left to do now?

Here's what I'm talking about.

Got er'y thing all hooked up this morning. Gonna hit the frame and stuff with a wire wheel, lay some tremclad.

Basically it's driveable as it sits. Just a bunch of small things I'll prob deal with once the tires are bolted back on.

Mine has a similar issue. I have a shock mount welded real close to the upper pin. If it gives me problems some day I figure I can just unbolt the Ruff Stuff caliper bracket and rotate the whole thing in order to get the pin out.

I've got ord brackets, with the extra thickness of the spacer I can't get the bolts out to do that. It was one of my ideas to go that way if I could.

Got it on its wheels today, ebrake seems to work okay.

Did some yard cleanup, figured I'd put the cap on so it doesn't look so trashy for our realtor to take pictures tomorrow of the yard :rotfl:

Had to air down the back tires to get the cap to clear the door. So that's not the end the world for dis guy :saweet:
