98 k2500. SAS'd and bobbed.

You need a grille like my crew cab. That would look sick!

But that bumper though......oh my lordt that makes the truck just about perfect.

Good thing I'm not wearing sweats right now...

I dont want the single headlight one though. There was a black one for my style headlight for sale local a few weeks ago for like $20 but I was out of town and missed it. Ill just have to keep on the lookout. I already did one grill by peeling off the chrome and painting it. Ill just pay for a new one to save my time and fingers haha.

New ones on Amazon go on sale every so often for $60 delivered.
I got 2 of them in black a month or so back...not as nice as OEM but overall they look pretty good.

It will still look sick!

Finishing up the wiring. I’ve been putting it off. The truck harness is loomed and extended to fit the new locations. I pinned the connectors to tie it to the LS harness. Tomorrow I’ll pin the ecm connectors and tie up a few things. Hopefully I’ll get to fire it up. I need to modify the fan shroud to fit this larger radiator.

It runs. I need to go through and double check the wiring though, I dont know if I lost a ground somewhere(i didnt unless I trimmed one without knowing it) or i knocked one of the crappy factory ones loose but there are some intermittent cluster/dash issues. typical stuff for these trucks.

For sure he does. I wish I had enough money to work that fast.

Thanks guys

It wasnt really money on this build, the money went into the last build from selling my cummins. The only big things I bought was the truck, Suspension brackets, Driveshafts, 205, bumper, paint, Vinyl floor. I did sell the engine for $800, Wheels for $200, 14bolt for $100, Battery for $80. All of that paid for the build pretty much.

It went fast because I already had all the major components from the last truck. I live alone so if I wasnt at work I was working on the truck short for a few weekends the girl made me go camping. And I took the last 2 weeks off of work and was putting 8+ hours a day in the garage.

Oh how I miss that!

Anyway back to the build. I welded some tabs onto my fan shroud so I could mount it to the radiator. You can see how much bigger this rad is than my last one and that one was big. As I said before the gmt800 hoses fit perfect with the lm7. It’s only my second time welding aluminum so:flipoff7:

For future reference and in case anyone was wondering here is how I’m handling the engine sensors. The oil pressure sensors are doubled up. The Ls one in the back of the block talks to the ecm. Then I stabbed the 454 one in the lower port on the block to run the gauge. It also is a fail safe for the fuel pump. If the relay fails the sensor will supply 12v to the pump once oil pressure builds up.

The temp sensor I used the one from a 1998 Camaro. It’s the only LS application with a 3 wire sensor. 2 for the ecm and one for the gauge

Divorced life is best life, well at least for me it is.
Built the silver suburban after a divorce. I remember Friday and Saturday nights girl friends showing up at my garage wanting me to go out with them. And all I gave a damn about was working on that rig. Good times! I don’t know happened?:dunno:

Anyway, back to this badass build! :waytogo:

Tons of progress today. Filled the coolant system, wired the fans, wired a pull up circuit for the tach, installed the front door speakers, stereo amp, door panels, cleaned the over spray off the windows, bled the brakes/steering. Got it all ready to drive. Started it up and let it warm a bit so I could bump my camaro temp sender to what the ECM sees. Shut it off to restart and it died. No fuel pump action. Plugged in my HPtuners and commanded the fuel pump on and all I got was two clicks. One from the relay, and one from the pump trying to spin.

I guess its a good thing I installed that access panel.

On the plus side, since I was in hptuners I was able to command the ecm actions to double check most of my wiring, the ac clutch works, both fans work, mil works, obviously obd2 port works.

Ordered new fuel pump today. The walbro 255 I had in there was 1 year old and had 8k ish miles on it. I’m going to try an aeromotive this time.

Got the vinyl floor and rear speakers installed today. I can’t say I’m impressed with how it came. Like an extra foot an each direction. Made for getting it placed so I could start trimming interesting.
