I could be totally wrong, (Easily done) but I don't think that the mounts come into play yet. I still have the rubber in there in all of the spots. Eventually, probably close to body work, I was going to call up Kert and see if he could spin me off all 12 of them. They are all going to be different by a little, so it might cost a couple of bucks to do, but I'm this far into a hard mount and would hate to have it all rip apart, due to some rubber in there.
I do hear ya and understand what you are saying though. That is one of the reasons that it took so long to mount the bumper. It's not just the bumper, it's the doors, fenders, cowl, frame and core support that all had to be dead on before I could tack in those plates. When I made those little ramps for the mounting of the center section of the bumper, it raised it by just a 1/4" which was a great thing. I was too close on the fangs for my liking. It did mess up the cut a little around the uber, but that was all good. I needed to make some small sleeves that will slide on the bumper and around the ubers to close them up. One of my cuts was a little too wide on the drivers side..
So, honeycomb, you say. I like that Idea, but I also don't. I really want to use the bumper as just a skin. I know down the line it will get messed up and I won't like it. 150 clams and 1 hour with the jig saw and a template and whammo, it will be good as new. It might come to the honeycomb, but I'd much rather it not. Although, it may come to that down the line.
Thanks for the idea though. Here are a couple pics of the mount. Maybe I'm not seeing where the mounts come into play just yet????
