I’m still thoroughly confused. I thought he was borrowing a bender and making spaghetti junction behind his stock bumper for Helen Keller moments.
Yes but since he actually wheels his he doesn't want the tubey part to get friendly with the fender nor go through all of this fun that you are for clearance.

-10 for the attempted slam....
Hey now mine doesn't get out much either. Simply pointing out the need for different clearances for different applications you know. Your entire setup will be way stiffer with all the cage work and such so I'm sure his whole truck has way more body/frame/bumper movement.

Only a couple days past the last bell of MPW, but this is eventually what I wanted to turn in by Sunday night. Ultimately, it may have taken to longer, but I think it turned out nice and hopefully won’t draw your eye to this area in the long runs up to 7-11 and back.

Mark, you had me thinking about clearance and level and shit while I was trying to sleep that first night. I took a couple of pics of how the front tube work/ bumper measures out. I was pleasantly happy, knowing I had one shim in the pass side core support mount. :)

Yeah I needed to wrap my head around that wrap a bit. It looks well braced but i know it will still deflect some. Sometimes overthinking it makes ot take so much longer

But the end product is gonna be nice. I’d like to hide mine in a similar fashion once I get that far

So do you have room now for a sheet steel brace?

Just a flat peice of steel to brace up the corner of the tube. It will make a tremendous difference in the amount of deflection under a hard hit

If not I promise to not spot you and your Mt dew tin can bumper covers into a rock

Not following where I’d put the sheet metal? I am doing a little clearance work on the top tube, I started hacking on it a little last night and now have it marked out to where I can take it off one more time, finish the clearance work and fill work in it. I should end up with about 5/16 between the fender and tube work. Tough to get two pieces that want to occupy the same space, have adequate deflection clearances and still not looked all hacked up.

What if you just don't run a fender and then it wont ever hit the fender?

I need it to hold my hood on....

Depending on how you plan to use the truck that clearance between the end of the bumper and the sheet metal could be too tight. It looks really, really nice, but on a trail there's a good chance it will contact. Or if the bumper get's pushed into anything. But if this is more of a street truck, then it might never be an issue. It is awesome detail work tho.
