A bit hoppy

Thanks for everyone's input. I'm going to start with the diff fluids and see what that does for me.
I'm basically going to work on this thing from the ground up. So at the moment I'm focused on how it rolls. The brakes were rusted closed in the front and the e-brake was stuck on. Got all that freed up and working OK but on its initial drive I noticed this shutter/hoppyness. So on to the diffs. After that will likely be suspension. Man I'm gonna struggle with the large price difference between the Rough Country and Tuff Country. Twice the price, but I really wonder if I need it to be less stiff. I also saw a set of 4 Bilsteen shocks for $200 and the Rough Country is only $650, so for $850 vs $1200 maybe I could get there. OR maybe that's a horrible idea. LOL. You guys are a big help on this, that's for sure. I appreciate it.

I’d say your spring la are probably fine for a while. They don’t sound much different than stock springs. Maybe even clean them up and put them back together. Figure out what you want to do with it before opening your wallet on upgrades.

Now that sounds wise! I could probably get shocks and just front springs. The front are reverse arched, I don't even have 1 1/2" travel room up there right now. But the back is nearly 6" of travel room. The bottom leaf needs a little coaxing back in line with the others, but I could clean them up and reuse. They are a 6 layer spring, I can't imagine they're dead yet.

The stock springs on lots of these were negative arches or close to it. You can get an add a leaf which will give some lift and stiffen the spring rate a bit or ORD sells a zero-rate that gives you an inch of lift without changing the spring rate.

They came with a negative arch? I never knew that. It seems crazy that I'd only have 1 1/2" of travel space though doesn't it? Or was that factory too? I guess it's possible, I'm just surprises.
Actually, I recall an 86 K10 that I had that had the same thing, but I put a lift on as soon as I bought it just because I assumed the leafs were shot anyway. I'm just trying to watch the budget more on this one.

They come from the factory with a negative arch. The half ton and three quarter ton trucks had two front springs standard, or three optionally. The one ton trucks had three front springs.

This truck came with only two front springs. I swapped in a three pack set of front springs, and added a zero rate.

Do you have the ability to post pictures of what you are actually working with? That would help us to help you.

Martin, I'm gonna have to pay to upgrade I think.

Welcome.
The premium upgrade will be well worth the cost. There is a tremendous amount of knowledge and advice to be tapped here.

And we just like to see the pics,LOL.

How long did this thing sit? What kind of condition are the tires in? Bias ply or radials? Could be flat spots from sitting for a long period.

Martin, sorry for the delay. Finally getting back to it and upgraded the account so I could post pics. You can see, up front I don't have much travel left. I feel like an extra spring and shocks all around should be good.

Have you read through the thread by @JT88K5 , ORD springs, take it or leaf it?
Maybe something to think about when comparing springs and cost. Seems like the cheap fixes aren't the best ride, from what I gather.

I didn't read it but I will thank you. I wouldn't normally pick the cheaper, but I might need to in the short term then upgrade later. But I haven't committed yet, so maybe I'll change my mind after reading.

I would just look for a factory three pack of springs, and install some new shocks.
