a build of a different variety - SOLD

In all technicality if the motor is older then the truck ,then it should be failed (by law your suppose to put a newer motor in then the year of the truck).. but not many people check.. I think its cool, but why do all that work and then sell it?

and you are not suppose to fail adjustable wheel bearings, just for that reason, there adjustable... and GM ball joints are allowed .125" play up and down (no side to side)

Its a crate engine so the engine is technically newer than the truck... :screwy:

funny lol,

what they mean is ok so its a crate motor, if the motor does not have the emissions equipment that the truck came with from factory then it fails (regardless if it goes through emissions or not) and technically by law it should have a sticker on the vehicle stating that the motor meets requirements for that year..

I am not against modification and like when people do this to there rigs. im just stating law and what he might come across in the future..crate or not. all it takes is one time and hell have to go to the RMV for inspection (or westfield modification inspection)

same thing if i had a 4cylinder in the truck and swapped in an LS1 or something then technically by law i have to have it inspected for such modification

are you a cop?

EDIT: now i see why you care so much lol your a Massachusetts state inspecter. quick hijack. lets say i have a old crewcab that has the 454 in it. would i be able to convert to a Cummings Diesel without running into much trouble? HIJACK OFF

No not a cop lol though I wish sometimes I was

I9 care because I want more of us and and our rigs to stay on the road and driveable...I am very lenient to lifted/ modified vehicles. other wise everything would be illegal, as it pretty much is...

and yes you can put a diesel in it and not have to worry about emission or i believe you shouldnt have an issue because its already old enough.. So go get yourself a Cat diesel out of a excavator and put it in your rig

If I had a crew cab i would go do just that! me and my friend where discussing it the other day. Is it anything pre 90's that its ok to do engine swaps with?

That 100% all has to do with your state laws. I'd look them up or consult an inspector before jumping into a swap.
