Crescent Junction, UT, is the intersection of Hwy 191 with I-70, some 30+ miles north of Moab.where is crescent junction? Or is that Grand Junction?
I guess coming down to I-70 would mean coming down on 13 from Wyo. into CO. right?

Following 191 out of Rock Springs, WY...elevation ~6300 and heading down to I-70 elevation goes up and down a few times from 6000 to 7300 then on I-70 from about 6000 down to 4000 as you head towards Crescent Junction. I assume that is 2 lane from 80 to 70?
If you are going all the way to Rock Springs, why noy just head south at Cresent Junction, about 12 miles out of Rawlins. It heads down thru Baggs Wy and into Rifle CO. That's the way we go from up here in Billings, MT. If you stop in Rawlins WY and like Mexican food eat at Rose's Lariat, it's on the main drag. It's killer.
We wouldn't be going all the way to Rock Springs, I80 then south about 15-20 mi. after Rawlins.
I see the road your talking about (just don't see a # for it), I just had my eye on 789 as it looks like a principal highway, instead of secondary highway; it ends up in Baggs too. How do the grades compare to 789?
Personally I like interstate as much as possible while towing, to help cut down on idiots pulliing out in front of you, entrances from side roads that make you slow down or stop, etc....
You guys found out first hand why those of us in Co. drive newer turbo diesels with power adders. They become necessities around here.
