Air conditioning

I've been collecting parts for my 85 Jimmy. All the parts are there to put together but I have no idea if it is all going to work since its been open to the elements for so long. I figure there is no harm in replacing the essentials and putting it all back together and having an AC shop put a vacuum on it to see if it will work or not. I figure if I can get by doing that then eventually doing an LS swap will segway into replacing all the OE stuff with a Vintage air setup.

cheaper than having a shop do it. I bought one last fall....clicky

I will tell you from experience, that Vintage Air is not that great. The factory stuff is very good when you take the time to do maintenance.
 
Vintage air is recirculate only - no option to bring in fresh air. Better to have the stock setup if you can.
 
Because:
a) i'm too cheap to get it fixed....and ignorant on how to fix.

b) it does clear up space underhood, which i hold in higher regard than keeping cool (see below)

c) Our summers/"hot season" (east coast) doesn't last but maybe 6 months if that, so i'll just "endure" through it.

d) a fan is good enough for me now.

Note that i haven't thrown any of the system away; i could re-install it eventually.
 
Teens right now. I'll go up in a couple of weeks when the monsoons start. 110 and raining is no good.
 
And that, is why I'd rather deal with 110 in the desert. as opposed to 98 here.
 
well i drove my truck to work today... she has no AC... the cab I put on didnt have it so its not like I took it out but anyway just found out its gonna be a hot one today.

UGHHHH 65 mile drive home in the heat so hope she holds together.

drive in was early and cool and wow I forgot how much Ground Hawgs hum on the highway!!!!
 
I've been thru the desert on a horse with no name, and have learned from my travels from the Sahara to Antarctica. It doesn't matter about humidity Freaking 124 degrees is damn hot (brain frying hot) and 75 below is damn cold (piss freezes before it hits the ground..)
