Honest truth, if I had forged pistons, I'd already have the bottle in the car....
The win light has final say....
I sprayed 175 HP with cast hyper pistons many times and drove it home...just sayin'....
That's Jason Schubert, he's not far from Byron, used to be a close friends neighbor, he runs his high end body shop that does full on restomods to muscle cars. He's accidenteally destroyed that car twice trying to win if I remember correctly, I think he deserves to win with all the work he's put into that car just to win that event for many years. And he has a lot of weight in the trunk, literally. Heres one of the crashes, he must of been so in the moment he didn't realize he was going toward the wall...
Yeah it's kind of cool you can see them both at the same time.

Except on the day Shady was there, then the crowd decides who wins, and people destroy their cars trying to win the wheelstand competition. Fun to watch, no way I want to try it, its up there with no prep racing, fun to watch, but I prefer traction.
I give props to the people who put their @$$ on the line though....
I have never understood destroying your car for others entertainment. Unless you get off spending money and time. Just seems stupid.
I did a Tough Truck race at the local fair grounds with the Jimmy. Paid $45 to to win a $15 trophy. My brother destroyed the suspension on is Baja bug to the tune of $700. They asked me to come back the next year.

"So you want me to pay you to thrash my truck, so you can sell seats in the stands and make money? No thank you."

I agree, at least with the wheelstand competition you can win $10K now, gives you a lot to try it with. But it's pretty easy to do that much damage these days.
Even in the dirt drags I entered you could win $150 and only a $20 entry fee. I think last year it was $100 I won, this year I didn't go since I am putting the pieces in the K5.

This was a scary one to watch. That things all original metal.
So, I got to race Jerry's Nova again last night. It ran well, putting down an 11.904 sec
@113.36 mph. 60 ft, was decent for a foot brake car, at 1.76

I saw that car there last night!
I did finally find the right time/weather to get my '72 to the track, it needs so much more tire and driver talent. It doesn't look like it but I was pedaling the thing every single run pretty much all the way down the track and couldn't launch under much power (2.3-2.5 60 foots 
, 500$K5 may have seen my attempt to launch it hard which was not good), even to let it catch at 80 mph, then spin at 100. It was harder to drive than I thought and it's been together and running 3 years so we're not strangers (but I don't drive it that fast on the street and the street isn't the track).
But it's my first trip to the drag strip in ~5 years and first with that truck, super fun. Good people.
Didn't get to run a lot because it was busy and some fan issues but mid 12's at ~120 was pretty much it, way slower than I expected. But no traction. '72 C20 with a cammed and turbo'd 6.0 (16#)
Anyway, here's a newer built V8 Mustang losing to a 50 year old Chevy farm truck (it did actually come from a farm in Broomfield and the mud flaps came with the truck).
