Yes, .022 should be enough for that bore (4" ?) up to about 15 lbs of boost. Does the 2nd ring have two rings for the gapless feature? Is it possible one of the two butted up? It looks like a classis ring butt failure, may have been a weak piston?
How old are the tires? More engine details?

I don't have a lot of engine specs. 548 cid. 11-1 compression. I believe a .680 lift cam. 1000 cfm carb. race gas. My first car, had it since I was 15 when it had a blown up V6 and my father bought it for $300 and gave it to me, then helped me get it working, had a 400 SBC I borrowed from him. Then I built a 388 SBC, that was in there for almost 20 years. Ran 13.27 first trip. Got it down to 11.85@115 on motor and 10.42 @ 129 on spray, same 388 intake to oil pan, same gears, same trans.

Thanks, I take pride in my street car, still has mufflers, a full back seat and power windows and door locks. And I built everything myself, engine, transmission, rear diff, cage, suspension, steering, chassis, etc.

I've also driven this, my Dad's creation with his brothers race shop doing the fabrication.
A 36 Ford Fiberglass pickup body, iron headed big block Chevy in the back, glide, Dana 60, Mustang II frontend, Undercover Dragster rear chassis, custom fabricated cage in the middle.

Thank you, drag racing has been in the family for decades, here is my daughter wearing a Folk Racing shirt, my cousin came up with this graphic, fits the family well...
Also, the Willy's is about to be back in action with aluminum heads! It's been down for over two years waiting some TLC.
I'm an amateur compared to my uncles/cousins. They race and build race cars for a living. My cousin has won so many races I lose track, he has a wall of Wallys, and 3 of my cousins have been World Champions in their classes for a year or more a few years back, and two of them have won two national events in the same weekend (doubled). They just a built a 4 link dragster from scratch(they are building 5 or 6 of them and selling most of them), and won a $10K race the 2nd outing with it a couple weeks ago.
