Aluminum dash

So I got my dash. It's Awsome. Prolly be a while before it goes in the truck though. Black Betty spends 24/7/365 outside with no windshield or doors and I had some reservations about how the dash would hold up. I was watching TV today and saw a product I may try. Just an FYI to anyone trying to protect aluminum or any other bare metal. I know my $$$ Bilstein Shocks lost there bling.

Where have you found that stuff? I HATE maintaining the aluminum rims on my truck. So most of the time they look like garbage. I'd love to find a can of that....

If it works as good as they claim it does, that'd be the hot ticket.

Looks like I may be doing an aluminum dash in my crewcab along with the NV4500 swap. I'll be looking into to some different options for finishing it. Blazer dash will stay natural.

I can't see any of the pics. Does anyone know why this is.

i wounder who owns that dash in the pic just posted ? ? ?

few more from when the last guy owned it.

its going to get modifyed a little to be exactly like i want for my truck.

will say its a real nice unit built by kirt at his place.

if i didnt get the deal on the used setup i would have purchased one from him. actualy he told me after i got it he almost purchased it back for his blazer or truck i cant recall the one he was going to build one for. but i snaged it first.

Are you all still making this? I have a 78 blazer...will it fit? Thanks

Yes, we are still making them. Drawing up a couple for customers right now actually.

Will it fit?

We advertise it for an 81-87 due to the changes that appeared in 1981 at the firewall area. I believe those changes were limited to outside the firewall and do believe it will fit. That being said, we haven't tried it in a pre '81 model so I won't advertise it too fit without at least a mention.

If someone knew for sure it would fit a 78 k5 I would def be interested in getting one! Have you seen or heard of anyone painting theirs? I plan on doing my whole interior with bedliner..just a thought? Thanks.

Also, what is the level of difficulty on removing stock dash and replacing with this one?

I have pictures of one customers dash that is done up in black. Might be powdercoated. Shoot me an email and I can get you some pics if you'd like.

Removing the stock stuff is pretty straight forward. The only difficult part is wiring the new instrumentation into the old wiring harness. More tedious than difficult if you have the wiring diagrams which have been posted here on CK5 a couple times if memory serves.

ok just sent u an email! If anyone can confirm this will work with a 78k5 that would be great? Anyone that can shade some light on the subject?

been told buy a guy who has rebuilt hundreds of gm cars and trucks from this era that its just few bolts and spot welds for the dash frame to swap over . he has done it to make a newer or older cab take the oposite dash frame.

so it should work just fine. :waytogo: but this is what i have been told.

I want one of these dashes so bad... The only reason I'm waiting is because I know it will turn into a cascading mod. I'll want to do complete out my aftermarket guage set, then work on doing some rewiring of the truck, then install a tilt column.

When I do finally get one, I'll have to come up with a cool looking wrap for it.

Nice work as usual. :waytogo:
