Aluminum dash

Wondering if anyone has tried this for a '75 or any year that has the same layout...

I don't think anybody has tried it with a pre '81 yet. I've talked to alot of guys about it though. Call me at the shop some time, more than happy to discuss.

Hope to have some more pics up of another pretty soon.

That's looking nice. What's the coatings? Looks like some textured and some smooth.

Decided to use some countersunk screws for the hinge?

Looking good.

running countersink stainless screws on everything, on the column cover it's stainless allens, and on the AC it's the black ones you provided. I JB welded a stainless lock nut and washer to the back of the dash for every screw :)

The textured paint is from Pepboys, with lacquer clear coat. The flat black has been painted over with a textured "bedliner" paint from Home Depot. I wouldn't use it for a bed, but seems to hold it's own for other things. I also used an underbody coating on the inside of the dash, to help deaden any vibration or noise coming through the firewall. :waytogo:

hmm I've said too much :doah:

Sounds cool. Be sure to post up some pics when all said and done. I haven't seen one in a texture yet. Seen some done in black and have liked the look of those as well.

Watch out for some of the underbody coatings in an interior application. Some, from what I understand, continue to give off fumes long after they are "dry."

thanks for the advice
It did stink, but I don't smell anything several days later
Hopefully that doesn't change as the dash heats up throughout the day. Maybe I should set it outside while working on something else, come back to it and give it a good whiff.

I've seen some dashes done in powdercoat. That dash you sent Randy, ended up a Canary Yellow and is going in a blazer that looks like hell lol. Dash looks nice, but too much for a DD I think.

Haven't seen that one yet. Got one going in my crewcab before too long. Gona do it in satin black powder coat. Might take a coons age before its ready to go in but that's fine too.

will have to get pics of my new lights i used for turn / high beam.

i got some lights that from what i can tell are from old 60's - 70's vintage dash/switch panels from fire trucks or mabye even airplane stuff.
