Aluminum dash

How tall/wide is the gauge portion of the dash. Would love to get one of these and add my Dakota digital Dash.

We have taken the dashes off the website temporarily. We've been getting a lot of phone calls about this so here's the scoop.

Going through a material change and hardware option update. Not to fear. This is a temporary thing. They will be back shortly.

On another note, there are 2 dashes at the shop that need to be claimed by their rightful owners. Please contact us.

Whew - thats great to hear! I was about to kick myself in the ass that these had gone. I'm not ready for it yet but it's on my list over the next year. More options are great as well!

We'll be ready for you. Alot of calls and emails concerning the disappearance of the dash from the website. Hind sight being perfect, I should have just ammended the text to put them on hold.

I was thinking the same thing !!!!!!

We started running the first one with the new material through the build process to make sure we don't have any odd things happening.

Won't be long now. 2-3 days max.

Sorry, I haven't seen this discussed. Is there any option to use factory cluster with the dash? I'm assuming there is work to "flatten" it instead of the 3-angle approach and remove the lower parts (like turn signals/shift indicator), but is the rough space compatible at all?

I thought there would be a thread here discussing the options and what people have done with them, but I can't find one.

If you're on FB search the "diy4x tech talk" page for dash pics. If you're on IG check "carl_sandvik" page, he has a diy4x dash with a big Holley EFI screen mounted in it.

The fb techtalk page is exactly that!
From Kert…
”factory gauges wont work, some digitals can fit, some touchscreens can fit depending on size.
6.5” height on the dash opening is the limiting factor.”

Thanks for the tip. I do have DIY4x on Facebook feed, I just don't use it for anything but marketplace and event planning. I cruised it tonight and didn't find much. But Facebook sucks for stored knowledge, so YMMV. Don't want a Holley screen for sure.

Yeah, I've kind of settled on that since asking. The overall height must be a lot lower (i.e. for a cage front bar), so there are probably more options for mounting things on top.

The question I haven't found an answer to is how to make a transmission shift indicator.

The display I listed fits easily in that space.

There is probably some discussion I just haven't found yet.

An ambitious person could remount and adapt factory guages behind some plexi with all new wiring, but then the tach wouldn't match (unless you have a tach disguised as a factory guage like I do). The only motivation would be to save like $800 on Autometers.

The DIY4xv Tech talk group is what they are talking about. It is a group for asking technical questions about DIY4X products.

Then you missed the ask questions step if you were in the group.

However, everyone was calling the Group a Page. There is a DIY4X page where Kert makes announcements but it is not the tech question Group where anyone can ask questions.

Luke you can ask questions on the fb group page or whatever its called. There have been a few discussions about the aluminum dash. I did a search and found a little bit. Kert is also more active there if you tag him.
