Anybody in the Michigan area need a free Chalet shell-only?

This shell is still available. I was searching the internet and found this forum. If someone doesn't come and snatch it for free, we are going to be forced to just scrap it. It's kind of funny to read what everyone has to say about what the Chalet is probably like and that the Blazer is probably toast lol.

The Blazer is NOT wasted. It's in awesome condition. For some reason when we sold the blazer the guy did not want the top.. no idea why. The Chalet has been outside obviously, but it has had a tarp over it. If anyone is interested I can run out to the old house and take some pictures.

We never received any emails, calls, or txts so I have absolutely no clue what happened. (989)600-3206. Located in the middle of the mitten. This camper will be gone by the end of the summer whether we give it away or scrap it. We'd hate to see that happen if there is someone willing to give it a good home.

Orphaned campers are usually an indication that the Blazer rusted in half. In this case, it is somewhat tragic that the truck was separated from the camper, as its collector value was perhaps chopped in half. The entire vehicle is a Chalet, not just the camper unit. Is there any way you can tell me who the Blazer owner is and where the truck is located? PM reply to me with that to the PM I've just sent.

You may not have had the messages fwd'd to you. I made the effort to get as much info and photos of it as I could, but the lady I talked to never followed through with it. Water under the bridge now, thanks for contacting us here.

I would still like to find one of the shells and convert a newer 91 K5 into a camper. Michigan might be a bit far to go. If it is nice enough it would be worth it though.

Just had a long conversation with the seller (or giver-away-for-free), it is serial #0469 built in 7/76. Photos perhaps will be placed here after meeting the requirement of new members having a minimum of posts, or something to that effect. Sounds overall to be a Chalet, but with the oddball detail of having the words "Casa Grande" on the back door, minus the GMC logo.

These campers were made with apparently extra lousy material in the back doors, so that might explain a swap-out....

More details to follow when the pics are posted here.

It would be awesome to Have the shell for camping. My blaze is first gen though. Someone go get this before its trashed. If I lived closer I'd buy a blazer just through it on and use it.

The 'giver-away-for-free' owner of this Michigan shell-only just emailed me to say it is still available, free for the taking to the first person who wants it. I've managed to misplace the photos I had other than the one below, but I remember it had a Casa Grande rear door and what looked like an extra set of interior parts.

PM me for contact info, once again the person whose property it is on is threatening to cut it up and throw it out.

I bet that would look pretty bad ass fit on/into a suburban.

Put me in touch with him, please.

I'm afraid the spindle for my tire carrier will interfere. Would have to come up with some solution.

If Blue85 doesn't jump on it I will. PM incoming.

PMs sent to you two guys above, thanks for the interest in keeping this one away from the chainsaw of death. Such was the threat in the email today on what the property owner had in mind, but I think the person would have regretted that destruction choice the moment he would have encountered one of the steel support tubes...

I've gotten a response from the seller and I'm making arrangements to pick it up.

So what kind of mods could be done to a Chalet shell to make it somewhat removable?

I don't really recommend that idea although one can remove the camper.
Its front heavy as the forward section rests on the top of the cab and thats where the issues come into play.

If it's as bad as you say, it's probably already wrecked. Maybe I should bring some 2x4s and a screw gun to try and rig some support on the trailer? I will not be putting it on my truck full time, so something will have to happen to strengthen it. I'm thinking of some steel stock on the inside in key places, bolted to the shell so it can be lifted off a truck.

I'm expecting the upholstery to be trashed, but if nothing inside is any good I probably won't bother. If there's no way to make it removable in a day or less I will probably pass it on to somebody else.

But all of this is just talk until things actually come together.

How tall do these sit above the roofline? How far do they hang back behind the tailgate? Are the frame extensions integrated to the shell or will that have to be fabricated? I assume whatever they used mounts a stock bumper?

Actually, one of their relatives may be taking it tomorrow. I have to just wait to hear back.
