Back In the Saddle Again

I’m really thankful that on ORD and Diy4x you have to call to order some parts. That’s literally been the only thing stopping me recently from ordering a roll cage and suspension parts simultaneously keeping my marriage alive.

I should have snapped a pic before. But these new aftermarket XJ shafts are not built the same as the OEM. Oem if I remember right oem has a plastic sleeve. The new ones the bar is machine pinched only allowing a certain amount of movement. So a small portion of the end on the shaft (column side) needs to be cut in order to extend it enough to be used on a square body. So watch out for this. I wasn’t expecting this. Next time I’ll get an oem for sure.

But I think this will work if I weld the spacer onto the shaft. I cut about 1/8th” off the column side in order to slide it out enough to work.

Latest haul from car mountain.

My Speedo needle broke so I’m going to need a new speedo cable. Found a nice sm465 knob too.

I’m taking the gauges out of this unit but if someone needs a nice printed circuit board I’ll ship it to you for just the price of the shipping. As I don’t need it or else I’m going to toss it.

Plastic doesn’t last out here with the sun hitting it and I had to get this thing out as quick as possible because it was 3 vehicles stacked and this truck was on top. Didn’t want to spend a whole lot of time in the truck like that so I just cut the plugs and pulled it out. Plastic didn’t fare well to me pulling it out. But let me know if you can use the circuit board.

@obijuank5

Matt here is a circuit board

My fuel guage never read correctly and was always all over the place. Resistor in the back is no good only reading 43 ohm should be 90 ohm. New one reads 90 ohm498A9748-1C21-46B2-BA98-50DFFEC436C7.jpeg

What year?

Not too bad for the original lights once they are cleaned. As you can see my glue up on the shift indicator didn’t work. Will get the correct indicator soon.
