Back In the Saddle Again

Got every light except the emergency brake light.

I also need to trace down the wiring for the dome light. Wish I had more time to get that done today.

orange and white 2 wires looks good. what is second temp gauge for ? Trans ?

The stock temp guage doesn’t read the aftermarket is at the head on drivers side.
I’d like to get a temp guage on the trans though.

The wires are cut off the door switch so I think that has something to do with the dome light not working if I remember correctly.

door switch is the ground side. strange the new temp gauge wasn't put in the old non functioning gauge spot

It was like that when I got the truck except half assed put in there and they didn’t hook up the light. And they had the temp sender wire all tangled in a bunch of crap under the dash and under the hood so I was able to get that cleaned up better. They probably lost the harness during the engine swap or something. Who knows.

The OE temp gauges don’t read accurately though. So I’m glad I have an after market for engine temp.

I could play around with resistance on them and see if I can find a resistance that will read accurate though. Might play around with it. But this is great for the time being.

I kinda figured the door switch had something to do with it. I’ll have to pull that cover and dig into that this week.

Before my Speedo would bounce really bad. That’s how it broke the needle. I figured that meant the cable was bad and all wollered out in its sleeve. But this new guage the needle moves nice and tight.

I’ll get the other side welded and frame prepped tonight after work hopefully. I don’t have much daylight after 5pm so I have to work quickly need to lift the fuel lines on the passenger side in order to safely torch out that bump stop.

What did you do with the bumpstops? I just got these shock mounts myself and the bumpstops on my frame are right where they should be welded to it.

I’ll build some that bolt to the shock mounts through the frame later. I just cut the rivet heads with my oxy ace torch. Easy peasy.

That’s pretty much what I was thinking. Just wondering if anyone had come up with something else.

Putting them on the top of the axle next to the knuckles. Diy4x has some fab pieces for strengthening that area that doubles as a shock mount.

Got this one welded up but decided to drill out the rivets on the passenger side because by the time I got the fuel lines moved to torch it would have been the same amount of time as just drilling them. Didn’t quite get them all the way tonight but will finish them tomorrow. 4A3494F7-06F7-4921-97D9-9C8B4D871E44.jpeg
