Back In the Saddle Again

This came up for an absolute killer deal online and I got it. The ext. speaker, mic and mounting brackets for $100

It’s been tuned and also modded for recordable playback.

The best part is I can get an aftermarket American flag faceplate for it. Mercia’

Looks like I can build a simple converter to convert 27mhz to 7mhz to send and receive SSB through AM utilizing a single 10mhz transistor a couple capacitors and a coil.
I saw the clarifier knob. I thought that was a SSB normal feature. My CB has the SSB ability and the clarifier knob.

Maybe it does but It only appears to operate on AM/FM either 10/11meter I do not believe it has SSB. It has different frequency ranges A-F but I don’t believe it gets a single sided AM signal.

But I’m wondering if that’s what the 10khz switch does. Set to AM and Range D flip the + 10khz switch to split the CB AM frequencies.

Ok, found a video explaining this little bugger

That’s a 10m radio by the looks of it. I’ve yet to screw around with one. Try to pull a manual for it online. I bet it does both.

apparently it doesnt have side band capability. But I can modify it to do so easily.

I was amazed at the range on the side bands. Ended up talking to some prepper in OK when I was parked in my driveway in Pueblo CO.

The 10m side is can go pretty far too.

Yeah, ssb would be nice for over the ground communications on trails though. I know AM isn’t the best but I know this thing with the antenna I’m picking up will have some serious range. I am very excited to try some skip as back home in WA there were giant mountains obstructing the radio waves. Out here who knows how far they can travel.

Haha dude tried to sell me a broken CB, must have been why the price was so good. Little did he know I can fix them. Found some broken solder joints soldered them back up and it’s working great. My truck has a factory CB splitter in it so I am able to receive through the windshield antenna. Works but not great I’m picking up skip already. I have a Stryker antenna on the way.
