Battery charger recommendations

And while we're here, any battery recommendations?

I currently have a 3.5 year red top optima in my blazer. I have no extra gadgets that heavy duty batteries.

While Oreillys store brand suffice?

What crank am I looking

I have this charger: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Schumach...ainer-10-Amp-2-Amp-12V/374448020?athbdg=L1200

and one of these: https://www.optimabatteries.com/products/digital-1200/

and a few others.

as for batteries: I quit Optima. they got were they would go bad and I kept getting the run around trying to warranty them. I just get Walmart batteries now. that way if I am out travelling and have problems, I can just stop at a Walmart and get it taken care of.
Yeah I was talking with @Wes Harden about batteries today among other things in my endless texts. We both reached a conclusion of Walmart or Autozone, Oreillys

I have a red top optima now which has been fine but I won't spend that much again.

I used to be hardcore loyal to Interstate for batteries but I had a run on all of our vehicles where they were dying every 2-3 years. I gave up and switched to O'Reilly's, internet research says theirs are made by Dekka which is supposed to be a really good brand/manufacturer. Knock on wood, no issues in about 4 years now.

I like the Schumacker brand of chargers, they've been around forever. I've got a lunch box size 2/10/100(?) amp settings.
I have had a Schumaker charger with the wheels for 25 years now. Has the jump start feature. It's solidly In the running for best single tool I have ever bought. It just plain works.
I think it cost me $100 when I was 19. That's $4 a year now and still going strong.

Just make sure you don't have any excess parasitic draw. The more charge/discharge the battery has to deal with, the less time it will last.

Agree with others on basically buying the cheapest battery you can when you don't intend to be putting heavy electrical loads on it. They all have finite lifespans, from my limited personal experience, OEM batteries in OEM vehicles last the longest.

Unfortunately Noco's pictures dont clearly show it (but there is some sort of eyelet listed as in the package), but I run a battery maintainer as my truck sits 99% of the time. Can't recall which brand mine is, but it has a quick disconnect lead with eyelets. I hooked those up to the truck so that it's just a matter of unplugging that one connector to head out. As long as there is a cover for the connector it will do fine underhood.

I absolutely despise the clamp-style, except of course when you need to help someone out, etc . The side terminal batteries don't help with the clamp-style, but a "bolted in" solution is much more unlikely to cause issues.

My truck sits outside most of the time, so I'll snake the extension cord from the ground up through the engine bay, make a loose knot around something with it (like the forward crossmember) so meth heads cant just pull it out, and leave the charger hooked up, underhood.

Edit: had to go back and look. First Walmart battery I used lasted me six years (born SEP '11, RIP NOV '17), and I ultimately killed it by leaving the ignition in run for days if not weeks. That means the current walmart battery is coming up on its five year anniversary. That I recall I haven't made any stupid mistakes with this one. Yet. And I've been trying very, very hard to keep it on a maintainer whenever the truck is not being driven (within reason, I don't connect it if I'm going to drive again the next day obviously), which theoretically should help it last longer.

Not sure if Walmart is still weird about it,(or just mine was) but they had to install it, and they would only install what they had listed as the OEM size. So I ended up both times with the "tiny" factory sized battery. I practice what I preach, I see no need anymore for a huge, more expensive battery when I don't need the capacity.

I've been running the Walmart batteries in everything I have and get about 7 years out of them which means my Silverado is about due for a new one.

I have a selection of noco chargers and I very happy with them.
As for batteries iget mine from Costco because I am a member.
I did Walmart before and only had one bad experience because of a bad manager.

Going on year 9 with the Deka batteries in my crew cab.

Checked mine today 12.2 volts. Plugged it into the charger, let's see what happens.
12.2 isn't dead but it's teetering on death.

Battery is on wood block

that wood block stuff is for rubber case batteries. A wood block does keep the any corrosion from staining the floor.
