BENDER stays in hibernation with me

How much did you lose on that d44?
rather not think about it
got $500
new bearings, ball joints, spindle studs, warn premo, crossover flat top, new u joints, new u bolts

I still have my spare shafts, DIY u bolt plates, trutrac, spare hubs, etc :doah:

Its all worth it no matter how much you lost. It part of the game! How many leaves in your 56 pack? Im doing that this week. My club will be in German with about 30 rigs on the 21st of this month. I need my 56s done by then.

You aren't losing the money.....

We have a hobby that has HORRIBLE value retention.
All of us are painfully aware of that.
You knew it going into it, so how could you be losing?

If anything, you're accepting the consequences of our used market. :D

Stupid market... :angry1:

If it was a good market, we would have a whole lot of jerks running up the price of everything. Just look at the muscle car and vintage guitar markets. Rich boy toys. I'll take my losses if I can know that I can get another old truck for cheap. :D

all true

I would have never thought a D60 was going to fall into my lap. I was planning on beating that axle till I found something better, that's why I put the money into it. I don't like trusting things I don't know anything about. :) O well, I'm chomping at the bit right now to get back to work on the truck, but work is busy, so I'll take it. I can't wait for new week.

Hey man, i just read your entire build and it's awsome from start to present. I took mine out last week and having second thoughts about my exhaust.

How do you like your exhaust now I'm thinking of upgrading mine. I have full headers with a 3" collector but then it goes down to 2.25" all the way and dumps just past the rear diff. sounds good but i was debating on a 2.5 or 3" system. The one i have was free so it will do for now. I pretty much have the same drivetrain as yours. the engine does have a bigger cam, 6" rods on flat top floating pistons as well as hydraulic roller lifters and vortec heads. i believe i all together i ended up with 10:1 compression. what do you think 2.5", 3" or a combo of the two. thanks

and once again your build is awsome.

I have no complaints about the exhaust, I like it. With yours, it could use the slightly larger size without any low end problems. I'd imagine the 10:1 and bigger cam wont complain either :)

Thanks. the D60 is gonna be NICE!!!. I too wanna see the outcome of the FAST system. i just recieved the summit catalogue and MSD came out with a similar setup. Keep up the good work it will all come back together soon.

Ya, would really like to know what you think of the fast system. I have been thinking about getting one, maybe when taxes come back.

ahhhhh feels good to accomplish something once in a while, instead of ripping things apart.

1" body lift and body bushings are finished. Went together easy, body lines up perfect side to side. I'm talking exactly 22 3/8" in the front and 22" in the rear, perfect. Still need to finish trans/Tcase linkages. I think the tailgate will be fine but I might fiddle with the assist springs later.

Got my 4.88 gears, D60 install kit, and Spartan locker in the mail :)
Got a friend coming over Wednesday to help with engine and axle install.
From there, I hope to keep the ball rolling for the entire week I'm off work.

Update time :)

FYI: The WFO spring plates don't allow you to move the axle 1.5" forward, only 1". So I'm drilling a new hole in each to finish up the axle install.

38" Baja Claw and Toyo tires. 2 pairs of each mounted on 18x10 rims. Not crazy about the large rim size, but I can at least use any old tires my Dad has from his truck. Also, this set was $800 craigslist. :waytogo: The Claws are brand new. The Toyos are about 90% tread but old with small web cracking inside the tread. :dunno:

That tire rim combo is gonna look great man!

And I like the new engine color :D

Sick build! Read everything up till now and it looks great. Definite motivation to get my old junk looking this nice. Keep it up, looking forward to the rest!

That wheel and tire combo is bad ass! Are you going to get two more baja claws to have a matching set of 4?

nope, gunna run it as is. All 4 have lots of tread. Gunna run the Toyos in the back since they have some cracking. I will probably drop down to 37"s after these are warn down. I couldn't pass these up though.

Need to cut some fenders before they can even go on. Rear wheel opening is only 37" :woot: All fenders will get some nice adjusting :D
