Bertha, picking up where Shewheeler left off.

Not firewall pics :doah:

Motor in the back of the truck in Pebble Beach :haha:

And motor on the floor at home :woot::woot:

And the wheels in my head continue to spin... just gotta figure out how to pay for it all :D

Since Summit is sucking the big D with my order, I have nothing for yall but another firewall pic :woot:

Not sure about the blingin 6061 :pimp:

Me too. Good 'ol truck.

I see the trans is still self supporting itself. :D
That's some perfect counterbalance with the 203 or that mount is stiiiiiiif.

Looks like there's a piece of angle iron across the frame bolted to the trans bell housing?

When I pulled the motor I supported the tranny with a floor jack so it wouldnt fall forward. Once the motor was out I put two long bolts in the bell housing and a piece of square tube across the frame to support the front of the transmission.

I let the jack down and nothing moved. The front of the transmission isnt being supported by anything :haha:

So either the poly trans mount is uber stiff or the 203 is a heavy turd :D

Frizz and I dropped the engine in today. I'll let him fill in the details since it's his thread but basically after massaging the "bolt in" motor mount adapters we dropped her in. The trans needs to move forward about an inch too to make it all happy.
The ORD engine crossmember hit so it came out too.

I was jacking around with the swamp cooler and got a good cut on my finger so I stole one of his kid's Star Wars Angry Birds band-aids and Frizz tried to go all Van Gogh on us and had a bungie cord come off at warp speed smacking him in the ear. Both injuries unrelated to the task at hand which sounds about right for us. :)
Oh we also went to Pick-n-Pull and walked around in the sun holding a bunch of tools to find absolutely nothing that we both needed. So they got $2 from us and we got exercise. Good day.

Looking good how close was the engine from fitting with the crossmember?

Major interference ,but close enough that I'm going to cut up the ORD cross member and make it work rather than start from scratch :D

Gonna start on it next week and I will post pics.

Comes over for LS swap, cuts off thumb fixing the swamp cooler :haha:

That swamp cooler makes working on the project not so bad with the temps heading into the 100s :pimp:

I love Summit but it took 7 days for my Lokar LS1 throttle cable kit and poly motor mounts to show up,and for my next order it took a hair over 12 hours for my 32 gallon fuel cell to show up at my door

Another kick ass thing with Summit too now is you get free shipping on orders over $99. So I can make a bunch of $100 orders and not get banged for shipping on every one :D

Just dealing with a bunch of little stuff to get the motor and tranny bolted in 100% before I move on.And I got the Pac Fab harness on the motor. Just got to get the fuse/relay block and computer mounted inside the cab.

I slotted the flex plate to be able to bolt up to the th350 converter and got it torqued back on the crank today. I just plunged with a .500ish end mill to slot the three hole pattern -.200" per hole smaller on the blot circle. .200 is more than enough but I just wanted to be sure to have clearance. All done with my eyecrometer,DRO,and a Sharpie line :pimp:

Stupid thing is I didn't even fix it. Just cut my thumb, broke a fitting and put it back together. :)

I thought the 5.3 needed a spacer for the flexplate and torque convertor so you don't fry the pump.

edit it was the flat 6.0 I was thinking about. :doah:
