Bertha, picking up where Shewheeler left off.

What springs are you using?

For some reason I thought you had deavers or something but I cant remember. Im getting 11.5" out of a stock set of ford 57s for what its worth. And that just barely pushing the spring negative.

I just played with this on my truck and dueling is right. There is not much to gain, and I studied that thread and I'm basically having deaver build springs to match the q80 Spring the bronco uses but will fit the blazer with only moving the rear shackle mount, I liked the fact you can get 14-18 inches of travel out of this setup.
Regarding the spring under, deaver does not have a sua design, that was one of my considerations and they told me it would result in a lot of testing because it was kind of a shot in the dark.

Do things get easier if you were to go spring under and a compression shackle in the rear? Would help with unsprung weight no?

Really digging the work and your latest progress pic. Looks burly, functional and pro quality! I'm gonna guess the cupcake tray is a cooler rack?

I was really looking at going spring under but it would have been a lot more money, moving the hangers around, and a lot of trial and error. Most every spring under setup I have seen have a tension shackle. Not sure how that would effect until sprung weight.

Thanks a lot and yes, cooler rack :D

It is coming together nicely.

Thanks :thumb:

They are Deavers. They are a stock height pack. Jeff at Deaver said I will have 4" up travel and to limit it at 12" total. Goofing off today with the travel I could probably get 16ish, but I will strap it at 12"

All of the 57s I have ever had are pretty flat and I have always had to add leaves to the pack to get what I needed out of them. I don't think they would work on this.

How to rework stock shackles.

1. Bolt stock shackle to table.

2. Draw a doodle on the table of what you want to take dimensions off of. In this case, relocate the hole 1" up and 1" forward.

3. Figure out a super precision, repeatable setup to cut the shackles :saweet:

4. Make a jig doohickey to hold stuff in place and ensure they both come out the same.

5. Weld and enjoy :pimp:

Full bump to sitting on the floor is 12".

The shackles will get boxed before it goes back together for good.

So dang cool, I'll be going back to a tension shackle when I redo my rear.

Thanks :thumb:

Oh boy, home built shackles... we're surely going to crash now.

The way I booger junk together, it is a definite possibility :haha:

Shoulda just thrown some Revolvers on back there.....

It's not too late. I don't have a lot of anything invested in these.

Thanks for the great idear Greg ! I'm sure they are hard to find being that they are no longer made and no one would ever get rid of a set :rotfl:

This mornings project is to get the truck up high enough to get a jack under the diff. at full droop :D

I absolutely can not believe Revolvers are still made.

I Googled revolver and revolver shackle was the second on the list. It came in ahead of revolver holster on the list which is frightening.

:haha:

The axle at bump height.

I think I have a bump stop setup figured out.

Gonna head to Trail Gear tomorrow after work to get limit strap hardware. Get the strap attachments mounted and then measure for straps :woot:

I want more travel in the rear.

I think ill just link it though. Im sick of cutting my traction bar apart every time the axle gets move around.
