Bertha, picking up where Shewheeler left off.

Trying to figure out where a mounting point is out in space requires a pencil, string, tape, a plumb bob, fuzzy math, and a digital angle finder.

Banging out a couple shock hoops takes some time and I wanna go fast :zombie15:

Yeah, I think the measure of a really well thought out and engineered build is that it takes the complex and makes it look simple. I think a lot of people underestimate how much is sometimes involved in keeping that simple look.

That looks awesome! I love how simple you kept this truck..

Thanks :thumb:

Far from simple, but certainly an elegantly executed build!!!

Nice work as always Frizz!

Thanks you sir :thumb:

Yes and yes.

So far it seems for every hour of work I have in this thing, there are 1.5-2 hours of of head scratching thinking "how the f*ck .......?" ha ha.

Thanks :thumb:

I didn't get called into work Tuesday and Thursday and I got sh*t done. Sort of a long awaited milestone that marks being able to put the leaf packs back together and set the truck back on the ground.

Whooped these up this morning.

Eyecrometer and a bubble level to make sure things are lined up.

Booger the tabs on, re assemble, and check out the travel :pimp:

I need to throw a tire and one of the bed sides on and see what things look like at bump height.

Yes you do now get on it!!! We should get together, us Ca and AZ guys and meet in glamis or something..

That looks really cool, can't wait to get my rear suspension dialed in! Picking up a set of 63's this weekend for it.

Thanks :D

At one point I wanted to do a custom spring under 63" pack and 18" bypasses...but I didn't have enough crack at the time to smoke so I wussed out and went cheap :smokin2:

Man I like the work you do! :waytogo:

Thanks:thumb:

Getting ready to put the rear all back together for the last time :saweet:

Put the spring packs back together and reinforced the shackles a little.

I couldn't get the bushings out, so I had to take care not to cook em.

Got stuff painted :D

And I blew a chunk of my day today making four mounting tabs.

That things ya gotta do ta cut sheep angles on muliple parts:rolleyes:

And why yes, yes I am retarded...

I didn't like the way the surface at the top of the angle looked so I milled it out:pimp:

Goofing off in the shop, coming up with some time sucking retarded ideas, and the UPS guy showed up with a 3' stick of .75" 4130.

So I got busy and whooped up bushing sleeves for the rear leaves and shackles.

The sleeves that come with bushings are the same width or narrower than the bushings that they go in. So when things get tightened up, you tighten down on the bushings creating extreme drag.

The sleeves I made are .050" wider than the bushings. There is zero drag from the bushings being pinched with everthing tightened up. The travel is super smooth. I have some greasable bolts on the way from Diy4x :D

Been looking forward to this day for months :woot:

It's sitting about 1" over the expected ride height. But with bed sides and more fuel, once the springs settle it should be perfect.
